Timeline

Thanks KatjaBlueMoon,

I will add my timeline to my signature. Am I the only one who irrationally refreshes the USCIS case status site 5 times a day as if that will hurry things along? Got a job starting Sept 19th, so the anticipation (and worry) is building up.

You can expedite the process if you fall under uscis' acceptable reasons of expediting..

Even military spouses like me have a hard time expediting unless our spouses are gonna be deployed soon. In that case we need to have their deployment orders.

Mojogirl is right! It's very hard to expedite an application even for people that really need it. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't even be looking for work at this moment. Your social security number is only used for work if you've got your EAD. In this case you've not got your EAD so if you haven't got it by 19th September then you won't be able to work. If you do it under the table and get caught then you could be deported or anything! It's not worth the hassle. You're best to wait until you get your EAD then look for a job/start a job.

Chances of your case being expedited are quite low unless the job is needed (Skilled medical surgeon etc). You can try but it's probably best to wait. I'm sorry for being a negative Nancy but I'm just trying to help.

Or if you're really in a financial crisis.. However, you'll need help with a congressman to back you up. Usually they will call USCIS to confirm your situation and to confirm that you already have a job offer.

Theres no harm in trying..

just had a call back from USCIS the guy I spoke to couldn't find any of my receipt numbers in the system, I now have to email the lockbox at Chicago and ask them if my receipt numbers are correct and he then told me to wait another week to see if my biometrics appointment letter comes in the mail......I will not be impressed if they have lost my case already :/

Your receipt numbers are most likely not trackable at the moment and it's normal since there are many people who can't track their numbers for months.

As long as you got NOA papers then they received your application. Just make sure to call every week if you have not gotten your bio letter soon.

The silver lining of RFE is that your case is actively being reviewed for "eligibility of benefits sought". Like Mojogirl said, just supply them with the documentation required immediately and you should be fine. Good luck!
