I didn't get any NOA1 hard copy at all. Because USPS messed up my address. But I'm lucky enough to get the Biometric appointment letter. It is coming at Aug 9 woo!!

Congrats. Your timeline is weird since you get text NOA right away whereas most people get it a week later. We hope to get the biometric letter this week and will do a walk-in.

Hello fellow July filers! I just want to ask if it is safe for me to update my last name on my passport, it will probably take 6 weeks for them to give back the new passport showing my new last name however my fear is if I go to the Biometrics appointment (god willing i get one soon) they might ask for my passport and not be able to show it.. would that that cause problems? thank you!!!

I got my hardcopies NOA1 last July 28, dated July 25.

At your biometrics appointment they need to see ID so if your passport is your ONLY form of ID do not do a name change... Why the rush to do a name change? If you need proof of marriage until the GC just keep a copy of your marriage certificate with you... If you can't prove your ID you can't do your biometrics Edited by Moslund

I see. I am trying to avoid paying $165 fee bec I just renewed it last year. Showing an ID on my biometrics appointment is more important. I will update my last name on my passport if everything is done.

Honestly I wouldn't stress to much about the name change cause once you get your EAD you can get state ID... Once you get state ID the only purpose the passport serve is If you need to travel overseas just make sure the name on the ticket is the same as the passport... If whatever reason you put your married name on the ticket it's not a big deal just have your marriage certificate when your going threw customs to show proof that the name on the ticket and the name on the passport os the same person
