We also sent it just a bit later than you :)

I was also a bit sad looking at the average processing time for Houston of 400+ days, but it never came to my mind it could be connected with the elections. Well, we were managed to wait for the visa we will wait for the adjustment. A lot of patience to us all.

Yes we need patience.

My friend from Japan filed for AOS OVER 9 months ago... Did biometrics in January. No interview in sight yet. She's in Houston. But people in the June filers are getting interviews already so I'm guessing it really varies by local office... Ours is Oklahoma City. How do we check the current time of processing?

Hi! I know. Our timelines are almost identical. Maybe we will have our interviews on the same day, and right now it looks like the Houston office is taking about 1 year to complete an AOS case. I saw in another forum that people that filed at the beginning of August of last year just had their interview yesterday. My lawyer said its because they're flooded with Naturalization applications. I believe that it's because people want to vote come November, and once that happens, I hope that there are less N-400's and the Houston office will start to move faster. Well, one can hope that they do. 1 year seems like an awful lot!

Best of luck to you too :)

As long as we get our EAD and AP, SSN and get on with our life, I think we can wait. There is nothing we can do about it so why worry.

You need to go to USCIS website and check for current status field office. MIne is in Denver and now they are just working on June 2015 application. So I might have to wait for more than a year in order the get interview. But anyway, since the green card last for 2 years from the day it was issued, I could apply for my wife become US citizen w/o renew/ or apply remove condition after green card expire. ( I believed the requirement for K1 to apply for US citizen is married to US citizen within 3 years and stay in the US at least 18 months). Correct me if I am wrong guys.

I was wondering about something. To be considered a resident of the state, do you need the green card or just need the proof that you have lived here for a certain amount of time(a year for Texas)? It's for studying purpose(university fees).

And yes, the "combo card" EAD/AP lets you travel the same way, you will already have an official USCIS document with your name on it.

Go here and read the Residency rules http://www.collegeforalltexans.com/index.cfm?objectid=6D1466D9-AEA5-DE00-C12F3F75E7367718 There are several ways in which you can establish Texas Residency for school purposes and maybe some of them apply to your particular situation. It doesn't necessarily have to be the actual GC.

I have previously traveled with AP and, for me, it was traumatic (When I returned, the first IO told me my AP wasn't good anymore. I almost died right then and there, and then I was sent to secondary without my husband for close to an hour. That was the longest hour of my life!). I'm not willing to do it again and thus, I will only travel once I have my GC in hand.

Thanks for the link! The residency seems to be a bit confusing.

I have never traveled with the AP before but even coming with the proper visa I still felt a bit nervous, I can't imagine what I'd feel if they told me it was not good anymore, I didn't think it could happen, thanks for sharing your story and hope you'll never have to repeat that ever again!
