Here is a copy of our Form I-797C, Notice of Action received on Monday, March 6, 2017, REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW.

I'm posting this so that you can see the list of documents needed and also who must attend the interview. Hope it helps!

There is also an enclosure that came with the interview notice. I tried posting it separately because it was too large to post as one whole document. It also doesn't allow me to post separately. This deals with if the applicant has ever been arrested or detained by a law enforcement officer. If you should need it, try sending me a private message and I can try to send it to you that way.

Hey, Nathan,

Yes, we have our 2016 married, filed jointly tax return which we filed on February 15th. On the interview letter it lists under items that you must bring: Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2's, or certified IRS printouts, for the most recent tax year. I'm bringing it along because I filed already and I have it. But if you didn't file already? The deadline isn't until April 18th, so it couldn't possibly be held against you for not filing yet. When is your interview date again?

Nate,

I don't want to be responsible for giving you bad advice. If I were you, would I make sure to get my taxes done before April  7th? Hell, yeah! Especially because they specifically ask for it on the interview letter. But are tax returns due by 4/7? No. Not until 4/18. Anyway, could you manage to get them done before your interview? I know I'd feel a lot less anxious.

It does say (unless already submitted), but you couldn't have submitted your Federal Income Tax Return and W-2's for the most recent tax year (2016) or your pay stubs for the past 2 months.

The tax return (I assume you will file Married, filing Jointly) also helps to satisfy another item on the list: Supporting evidence of your relationship.

Good luck, let me know what you wind up doing.

I haven't looked at this topic for a while, still waiting :( Like it's been said Texas office is slooooow. What actually scares me is the fact that I'll have to pass the medical exam all over again by the time of the main event since they are only processing February 2016. It's not only me who's still waiting knowing it'll be at least half a year longer right? We actually called USCIS and they just told us the same thing - February 2016.

I try to condition my mind to just know it will take 10 months or more but as time goes by I get anxious with everything happening around me and different people's experiences that are shared on visajourney...  seriously is nervewrecking but yes I agree with you.. it kinda helps knowing you're not alone

It's a good idea to be prepared for it, even before filing the documents we knew this office was slow, we try to concentrate on other things like studying/work/future plans. Ohwell, cheer up guys, the time will come!
