I'm not certain I understand....

On all forms we put our current last name, as it is our legal name... i dont see anything wrong with putting your current name.. it is your legal name you know? am I missing something?

i had a previous permanent resident card with a previous marriage, the name that was on my older card was that of my previous marriage and thats the one thats being abandoned, it still has the same alien number just a different name.

but i put my current name on that form instead of the name that was on my previious card

I understand that dear, i don't think you have anything to worry about, stop worrying your little head.

I looked at the form itself, it doesnt say previous name or name that was on the card (like for instance when I had to reapply for my social security number they asked for my name and the name that was on the card)... your current name is your legal name... don't sweat it... you'd be fine..

1. Where do you go to post a topic to the general board. I can't find the 'add new topic' button

2. Maybe you can help. I have a job offer back in Canada and they will be generous in allowing me to come and see my husband on a regular basis but I want to know if that will affect my AOS since I now have a green card in hand....yish....

I looked at the form itself, it doesnt say previous name or name that was on the card (like for instance when I had to reapply for my social security number they asked for my name and the name that was on the card)... your current name is your legal name... don't sweat it... you'd be fine..

the instructions for the form states line 3 FULL LEGAL NAME, enter alien name as it appears on the permanent residence card if presented or if information is known.

i just got of the phone with uscis and she told me to file form I-90 ( Request for a replacement card ),

grrr thats not what i am trying to to. i simply need to have the last name changed on the form thats it, everything else is the same.

so i told her i want to speak to a tier 2 officer. .. so now i am waiting

aos is adjusting status, you would abandon the process if you moved back to canada and take up a job, he can then petition for you while you are outside and start the process over while you are out of the country..

as for making a new topic.. I know its ridiculous how it is set up, not very user friendly.. u can try here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/3-introducing-our-members/ .. then if anything someone would move it to the accurate forum.

Finally my EAD and AP is on a way to my house. Next thing is SSN. How that goes? Do I need to wait few day or I can go right away to apply for it?

Got our ssn cards this morning. It probably arrived in the mailbox late last night. Going to dmv to apply for id and learner permit today.

they will only make you apply for one i.d... and when you apply for the permit they will make you take a test right away.. smh.. in the state of ny you are asked 20 questions and you have to get 14 right... good luck...

Have you talked to the tier2 officer yet? I couldn't access this website yesterday so I was just reading everything. First of all, congratulations with your approval! but sh*t that you have to worry about this problem now.. There's always something and its such a hassle to get a clear answer from someone. I hope it's not that much work, to change the name
