For those ahead of me and those who just got the word we have been approved... What is the social security card discussion all about? We filed and had gotten a social security card for my husband 1 week after his arrival into America. Do we just take his green card ( when we receive it ) and his social security card (that has work limitations written on it) back to the SS office and get a new one? Also what does that have to do with the driver center?

For those ahead of me and those who just got the word we have been approved... What is the social security card discussion all about? We filed and had gotten a social security card for my husband 1 week after his arrival into America. Do we just take his green card ( when we receive it ) and his social security card (that has work limitations written on it) back to the SS office and get a new one? Also what does that have to do with the driver center?

I was advised that I have to advise the Social Security Office when I become a permanent resident because uscis does not advise the SSA.. so once you become a permanent resident... the benefits change... she never said and i never asked if I come when I receive the conditional permanent resident card or when I get the conditions lifted.. she just said when I receive the permanent residency that I should return to SSA so they would lift the restrictions.

I am going to assume that you wanted to know what you need for the DMV.. I took my ead/ap card, SSN, and Passport.. I filled out the application and paid the money for the driver permit.. then they made me do the written exam on the spot and took my photo. You would receive a driver's permit receipt that you would need to use as you drive and to attend the mandatory 5 hour class. I sat in a 5 hour mandatory drivers class afterwards, then received a certificate. With the code on the certificate I registered my road test, and in NY it takes 1.5 to 2 months to get a road test. I got mine scheduled in January 2017. The physical permit I receive this week.

I just took my wife conditional green card and the application- told them we lost the old card . The new card doesn't have that DHS removed.

I'd like to post an update over her on my application. I'm happy to finally say that things are moving along for me after it was very slow and unfortunate for a little while. Today our status changed to Interview is scheduled. Although I was hoping to be one of the lucky one and have waived, I'm still happy we are at the end of this step finally. Our interview is set to December 29th! Wish us luck everyone :)

I called SSA office today and got a nice lady who check up on my reference number when I applied. She checked and said, "wow, your case has been returned and let me clear it. You should get the card in a week or so". I asked if I can come to the office and get the number in person and she said yes, I can do so on Monday since the office will close until then (Thanksgivings etc).

It seems to me that once your status turned to "Returned to agency", you should call up local SSA and let them check and clear it. If you don't do it, they will let it sit there. I wasted almost a week waiting for this. Had I done it right after the status changed, I could have received the card this week.

Oh well, next week we will do it then.

Yes Finally! I went to the office today and the guy said that my ssc was mailed to me on the 23rd so I should get int this week. I asked him if he could give me my number because I have started working yesterday and I need it for my taxes/payroll. But he said they are not allowed to do that anymore.

Nov. 22nd 2016 - Verification from DHS for SSN cleared ( Day 54 )

Nov. 23rd 2016 - Applied for State ID at the BMV ( Day 55 )

Nov. 28th 2016 - Received SSC in the mail ( Day 60 )

Dec. 1st, 2016 - Greencard Approved on the Spot ( Day 160 )

Dec. 5th 2016 - Case Status for I-485 changed to "Approved" post dated Dec. 1st

Dec. 5th 2016 - Case Status for I-130 changed to " Approved" post dated Dec. 1st

Dec. 5th 2016 - Welcome letter and I-130 Approval letter in the mail , both post stamp Dec. 2nd

Dec. 6th 2016 - Case Status for I-485 updated to " Card was mailed to me"

Dec. 7th 2016 - Update on my Green Card, Text from MyUSPS " Card was Picked up", expected delivery date 12/10

Hi Everyone, Congratations to those who have received their conditional green card and good luck to those who are still in this prcoess. I was thinking I was the only one left behind in getting EAD but thankfully everything worked pretty amazing for me in the end and received EAD/AP CARD last week.

Now waiting for any progress to happen on I-485!!! I was wondering, does anyone has any Idea what will be our estimate interview date for AOS (I-485 Petiton). We file in July 25, 2016, recieved RFIE on Sep 19 and they received our response on Oct 31, our field office is Washington D.C? I have very bad luck getting replies from people here but i hope this time someone may reply...lol Thanks

AOS from K-1 visa

5/27/2016: Entered US on k-1 visa

6/01/2016: Married!

7/22/2016: I-485 & I-131 & I-765 sent to USCIS

8/1/2016: NOA via SMS & Email received

8/3/2016: NOA letters received

8/10/2016: Biometrics appointment letter received (scheduled for 26 August)

8/26/2016: Biometrics done at Alexandria, VA

9/19/2016: RFIE E-Notification Received

9/23/2016: RFIE Letter Received

10/27/2016: Responsed back to RFIE Letter

10/31/2016: USCIS received RFIE Letter

11/15/2016: Open Service Request on USCIS as EAD/AP was beyond regulatory time frame

11/15/2016: An hour later EAD/ AP approved, Status Changed to: New Card is being produced

11/22/2016: AP approval letter received in the mail

11/23/2016: EAD/ AP Combo Card in Hand, collected from mail box at 2pm.

12/07/2016: USCIS status updated to interview is scheduled for 01/09/2017.

12/10/2016: I-485 interview letter received in mail.
