One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If weve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. Were no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. Its simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that weve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now."

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Extremely careless and should have known better ≠ gross negligence. Comey said he looked at relevant case law and could not substantiate bringing criminal charges.

As I'm sure everyone here knows, our common law system is based upon the principle of stare decisis -- that we base our legal decisions on those that have come before. If no other case would support criminal charges on the facts, but would support security or administrative sanctions, then no criminal charges can be brought.

We still can't bring criminal charges. :)

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

I have what I think is a rather stupid question. Does the president have to pass a background check, or are they automatically given top clearance? I would think a person elected president should have to go through that process which would find out if they can be trusted with the Nation's top information. If Hillary wins, based on what Comey said yesterday, would she pass?

If Hillary was not immune to the law and our goVT so crooked, she would never get a security clearance. That having been said , since she would be the President I don't think they can withould.

If she does become president, one of her first tasks will be to round up and seal all of her and her family's unfavorable records and have them sealed for about 50 years.

So what you are saying is that the American people give POTUS the security clearance? If that is the case, then after hearing what was said yesterday, who in their right mind could trust Hillary and vote for her?

Sorry but I will put my opinion and what I know on here because I think I am one of the few people on this forum who has actually ever had a High Level Security Clearance. Also I know what the hell I am talking about. I was listening in to the conference yesterday and everything he laid out before hand did sound like she would at the very least go to a trial, and then he comes out with his stupid recommendation. This is a utter travesty of the justice system at the very least.

I have seen people I knew and others I was friends with actually get worse for doing less, and I have seen other people's lives get ruined for this as well. So saying that she did something wrong and with "gross negligence" is ok because she did not intend to do it. That does not make any sense at all, it is basically saying that I can go out here and give secrets to the Chinese is ok because I did not intend to do it.

But seriously I have seen people both in the military and as a civilian contractor that have done less but got hit far more harshly than she has been. The VERY LEAST I have seen happening is that person gets fired, fined, and BANNED from Federal Service if not jailed.

huh. wait a minute. if i'm reading this right, it seems like ya'll are saying that justice is not equally applied in this country. now, that's a tough nugget to crunch but i think yall might just be on to something.

derp.

get with the program. high level security clearance isn't top tier creme de la creme and none of your anecdotes are comparable to the ruling class.
