Yes this is s good thing. You need to start gathering your affidavit of support documents and get ready to send them. Do you have a lawyer is this why you don't know the stages of this process? If yes talk to your lawyer. You are at the National Visa Centre stage.

Going to NVC and when they receive, you will get email (fastest way so i hope they have good email ID for you) giving you your embassy case number

NVC will tell you what they need from you

Typically they require for spouse visa the criminal investigation report(s)

they can ask for any originals they see fit if you sent in just copies

they will want IRS tax returns for last 3 years in some cases (high fraud countries)

when they send statement for billing the 2 fees, you pay online

then can fill out online the I 864 support order and the application for visa (fthis ee schedule can be seen online also)

after this is all approved they notify you case has been sent to embassy and the date of interview and letter telling you what documents embassy will need to see

then hopefully pass interview, get visa and pay $165 visa fee

I was checking my husbands case on the USCIS website and it says that the case was sent to the department of the state for visa processing. What does this mean and what's next? Is this a good thing? Thanks in advanced!

Congratulations. Now you need to read the NVC process wiki so you know all you need to do and what will be happening. If its been at least 2 weeks since your petition was sent to NVC you should start calling them.

So I received the NVC welcome letter and it contains a checklist of the documents I need to provide and a fee bill of $120. My question is when I have all the documents they ask for do I send it to the NVC or to the consulate where I would be scheduling the interview for my husband? No really given much direction. Kinda lost. Help please!
