I filed for EAD and AP with I-485 and last week I got an RFE on my I-485 case. I was reading this about the EAD on the USCIS website and I am confused about the the clock term, which says, the clock (in days) will stop and restart. Does this mean that the clock will stop and restart from zero? I cannot get the term "RESTART". Below is the para:

"The clock will also stop if USCIS issues a request for initial evidence pertaining to the principal application/petition that serves as the basis for your application for employment authorization.

  • For example, if your eligibility for employment authorization is based on a pending Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, and USCIS issues a request for initial evidence pertaining to your Form I-485, the clock for your Form I-765 will stop when USCIS issues the request for evidence and restart when USCIS receives the requested information."

Please help. Thanks.

I believe it's been explained in your other posts and threads that processing will resume (restart) once the info is received. Processing will pick up where it left off.

But its not clear. Does restart mean start from 0 or start from where it stopped?

hi

no, it means the process will resume, will continue once they receive what was requested

as others have stated, for some the process never stops, they have received their ead or travel document regardless the RFE, others the process has temporarily stopped until the missing documents or information that was requested was received, and the case resumes or continues the normal process
