Waiting to hear of you got your number!

Still no case number created yet. Do you guys think I should try again later or just wait until tomorrow night?

I know some of you guys said that you got the case number by calling later, but I waited a whole day and still no number assigned.

I am kind of laughing at how ridiculous it all is. They tell me when I call for the number they tell me it can take a week to create the number. Did they tell any of you guys that?

So glad that Jon and I are delaying things a bit because this is just laughable to me for some reason. We are close though, so I am not stressing anymore. I am just laughing at how long it's been taking the NVC compared to others. Silly government agencies!

I have a questions for the Aussie filers if they are still around, is the Australian federal police certificate the same as the national police check?

I was also wondering if there's another thread that's more specific to the Australian process? Now that we have the NOA2 I'm curious to see how other Australian interviews have gone and how long the process took from NVC to visa in hand... I've seen the Australian portal and read the consulate reviews but it's all a bit random and I was hoping there was something a bit more up to date and active like this thread lol.

Any help is appreciated! I'm a bit lost from this point forward :(

Here is this thread located in your regional forum that might help. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/297828-nsw-police-check-which-form/

There is also your regional forum here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/146-australia-and-new-zealand/

Where if the first link doesn't answer your question, I would start a new topic and get help from your fellow experts like we have in the UK such as Nich-Nick.

OMG! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Congratulations!

So very happy for you, and it gives me great hope!

I'm really nervous about ours in 5 weeks... I really have no reason to be, just random worries pop up, but i guess this is normal.

Now your fiance will be here very soon! Good luck on everything! :D

I was an oversea student in Australia, now I'm living in Vietnam. I just applied for Australian National Police 2 days ago, and mine was completed yesterday. It will be mailed to my country. I'm pretty sure it's the same as Australian Federal Police Certificate.

We used this to prepare for the interview in 10 days (?): https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/pk%203%20supplements/SYD%20-%20Sydney.pdf

At the moment, it took exactly 2 weeks for the NVC to receive the file, 2 days to get the number, 5 days to leave the NVC (they send it out in batches, is my impression) 4 days to get to the embassy, we heard 3 days later from the consulate, via email. While you're waiting for the email, do the DS-160, since you will need the receipt number to reply to the email. I left Australia before he could get a reply but from what he told me, they send you the PDF I linked above and a checklist (this 1pg checklist will ask on the bottom, where to mail your green card and based on what I've seen, you put the petitioner's address).

By the way, Kat&Jon, my fiancé is annoyed about our inefficiency (as am I), lol. We still use checks here, for instance. So, the fact that each packet that enters isn't numbered automatically seems kind of silly.

I've heard people having visa in hand from the next day to about 10 days later. So, if we're approved, ill keep you posted on that.

After that...entry to US. Which we plan on doing a civil wedding shortly after he arrives. Apply for anything we can at that point (AOS, etc) and then we can plan for a bigger wedding. We were too nervous to book a venue, vendors, etc based on the visa dates because it can dramatically vary.

I hope that helps. If I am missing something, please let me know!

What is everyone doing in terms of wedding plans? :)

my MIL keeps making mine change... she wants to be at the courthouse wedding, but she has limited vacation availability. But basically, we're doing a courthouse wedding as soon as he gets here, then a large ceremony for our families over the summer.

Honestly I just wanted to have a backyard party but i think my mom and MIL are in a conspiracy to make it as complicated and invite as many people as possible @_@

We're planning a multi-day celebration like in Morocco with the ceremony being a small courthouse affair with my mom, sons, two best friends, and their spouses on Monday. A henna party for all the close women I know on Thursday. Finally, a large reception at our house on Friday. I actually just purchased some more decorations for the reception and I already have the two wedding dresses I'm going to wear. Save the Date cards went out last month, but we're holding off on the invitations until after his interview on Nov 7th. That way we can be certain.

We're having the reception at home in my HUGE backyard in a large tent so I don't have to worry about venue issues if something truly bad happens. *fingers crossed everything goes well*

Thanks so much for the info everyone!! I'll be checking it out. Congrats on the visa approval!! I think that's the first official one we've had on this thread :dancing:

Tortugarougue thanks a lot, good luck with the interview, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

We're planning on doing a small courthouse wedding and then just a small celebration with family and close friends at home. Down the road my fiancé want's to plan a bigger ceremony but for now we're happy to just make it official :)

Hi all,

Tricky situation here,

Me (the US citizen) and my partner (originally from England) are currently living in New Zealand on a temporary work visa that expires in January-- we were planning on leaving NZ before Christmas, as we filed our K-1 back in July and assumed it would be ready by then.

We've just received and RFE so it looks like the chances of approval before Christmas is unlikely... so we've decided to go travelling for the next couple of months then head back to the UK and have his interview there-- rather than waiting around New Zealand.

So we would like to request of USCIS to change our address to the UK from this point.

My question is-- how much will this delay things? Is this even possible to do at this stage? Will they give us trouble for this?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,

Layla
