Did you check to see if the check was cashed? Did you sign up to get texts and emails?

Okay, I have been checking CEAC to see when my documents arrive there from NVC. I saw last night that it said "Ready." I assume that means they are in Nicaragua. Yet, I haven't received an email. How do I schedule the interview? I have already filled out the DS 160.

Hello and Good morning. Please find, below, the link regarding the processing of K1 visa petitions at your embassy in Managua, Nicaragua.

https://nicaragua.usembassy.gov/mobile/fiance.html

https://nicaragua.usembassy.gov/mobile/k1.html

The first line is just an overview of the process. The second link gives you a guideline in a stepwise fashion. Note that it says you have to wait for instructions from the embassy which comes via email before you can proceed. So it's a gamble when people in some embassies book an interview before the packet is received. At our own embassy in Ethiopia, the send you an email with instructions which is pretty much what's on their webpage. So most people including us, booked the interview ahead of the email but you have to time it well, other wise you won't be allowed in the embassy without that email. From my observation, all the applicants in the Ethiopian forum received that letter 6 weeks after their NOA. So that's how we gauged it too. We were able to book our interview after our case status said "Ready", but that was because the process also requires us to register on the local embassy designated website and choose a DHL courier service and then go to the designated bank and pay and then 24 hours later, we are able to use that payment receipt to choose an appointment date. On the website for the embassy in Nicaragua, it says,"

Visa applicants/beneficiaries must wait to receive the packet of instructions before scheduling an appointment. The Embassy is not able to process your case before that."

Also somewhere on that page, it says something about the embassy in Bogota, Colombia. Not sure if that's a typo or a matter of fact, as sometimes cases maybe processed at a certain US embassy in another adjoining country. Well, look the website for more info, I hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you! That is a lot of help! I'm just worried because the packet has been in Nicaragua for a few days, but I haven't gotten an email. I would think that the email would be automatic. Do they send the instruction packet to the petitioner or beneficiary?

Thank you for your nice words to me. We all are in the same and the approved files are good for all of us. As I understand, there is now much less files on the table, so it will be working fast and great chance we are approved this week as we are not so many anymore. I really do smile with each July approval

From what I understand, the USCIS doesn't send over individual files, they wait until there is a crate full and then send them all together. So one person may receive their NOA2 and a week later they're able to get their case number from the NVC, and then the next person, it takes 4 weeks... all because the first person in this scenario was the last file to go into the full crate and the second person was the first file in the not-yet-filled crate. Then there's the question of how big are these crates? Are they the size of a FileSolve box or are there several filesolve boxes that they group together? That I have no idea.

You are welcome. According to the embassy website in Nicaragua, it said it will be sent to the beneficiary or petitioner, whichever email was used in the application. So far, in our own case, it has been the beneficiary. She received all the emails. The only email I received was the NOA 1 and NOA2 notifications. When we registered at this embassy specific website, she got the email confirming the DHL registration. Also, since we entered her email in the DS-160 application, the confirmation page was sent to hers. Even though we were able to also enter mine at the end so that we could generate another copy to my email. Either ways, yall will get an email in the email y'all provided on the petition. Like I said, I observed it took 6 weeks from NOA2 for Ethiopian beneficiaries or petitioners to get that email which seem like what other countries beneficiaries call the "Packet 3." According to one of the petitioners who attended an interview last month, the email started with some thing in the lines of "We are now ready to process your K1 visa...." but it seem to take 6 weeks for almost everyone, starting from the NOA2 approval dates. Not sure how long it will take for Nicaragua. My one important advice for you is after you go to the visajourney.com website, click on "portal" and that will take you to the country-specific portal based on the country you registered in this website (Nicaragua). Then you will be able to select "K1 visa" on the drop down menu and see what others have posted. Also you can create a thread and ask any question. Chances are that there's another person who has thesame bothersome question or someone who knows the more specific answer due to their experience. Good luck always.
