Hi all

I need some advice. I called the helpline and spent 20mins and achieved very little. The advisor did not have any idea. As a be

My fiancées brother has offered to be co sponsor. Now he is a self employed truck driver and earns enough to co sponsor. The question I am asking is because he works for himself what documentation does he require. As he doesn't have an employer he is the employer. He does not have a passport but is a us citizen by birth so is a copy of his drivers licence ok

I appreciate any help or advice. I wish the Information on the web and the advisors was easy to understand.

Thank you in advance.

This is my own unprofessional advise- the website https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-134instr.pdf tells u what's needed if self employed. Just like many others who weren't self employed, my fiancée took the last three years of my tax return rather than just the last year which was required. I also decided to meet section A and B requirement stated on that webpage. If your co-sponsor is self employed, he only needs section C (tax return) unless he wants to also meet section A by getting abank letter showing his earnings, date the bank account was opened and the present balance. But section C should suffice. They may ask your fiancé how he or she knows the co-sponsor. They asked my fiancée about the person on my tax transcript which was pretty much my dad whom I had previously filed a green card for. Someone here may have more or better advice. Good luck to you and yours.

My fiancée got her visa already but I was still nervous and couldn't sleep the night before the interview. She didn't tell me till after the interview how nervous she also was. The thought of a denial is real. Even when u know u are in a real and true relationship, it's a normal physiological process to feel that way- unless u are not or unless u are being paid. Trust me, visa fraud is real and these people can't ALWAYS decipher who is real or fake. so I get why people are nervous, especially if ur fiancé is in a so called third world country. I am yet to see someone denied from the U.K. Or from Australia or even from a poor country as the Philippines. It's just the bias that the COs have. For example- they think people from African countries have ulterior motives to immigrate. Just FYI, the day my girl was interviewed, the first person was granted. The second and third were denied. My girl was the fourth. Speaking to the guy who was the third. He said the CO gave him a hard time cos he said he and his fiancée met through Facebook through his brothers introduction or recommendation. The CO said, " was it through recommendation or through Facebook" and then started giving him a difficult time and raising his voice cos he already wanted to deny him. Why? Cos "when u are African and meet on Facebook, then it seem like u are fishing for a green card from a vulnerable American." But we know that's BS and not always true. The other girl who was denied looked so nice when I spoke to her but I couldn't ask her what happened cos she was clearly devastated. My girl was grilled with questions and the CO kept saying "your fiancé has a child right and kept repeating to see if she would waiver. I would just say we were successful cos of the burden of evidence- This is my forth time in Ethiopia and he realized I was waiting outside for her and saw the extra stamp on my passport as being in Ethiopia now, took her to my home country of Nigeria which wasn't cheap and he saw the tickets and even asked her if she had fun and he laughed and said of course. Asked about meeting family, asked about plans for the wedding and she showed him a Hilton hotel reservation contract which we just paid for after the interview, he saw a save-the-date card I made using vista print and i made 100 copies which we started giving out after the interview, he saw that we flew to and from two historical sites in Ethiopia during my third visit. He knows she is a physician and I am a pharmacist. So it's not like she is really desperate to con an American. He saw numerous pics of us with my family and hers. Despite that he wasn't trying to give the visa without making sure we weren't in a foul play. So, yes, it's ok for anyone to be anxious especially if your fiancé(e) is from certain parts of the world. I was anxious despite the burden of proof cos I have read from a girl whose fiancé had numerous proof only to be told that their relationship didn't seem bona fide. Good luck y'all.

Wow. That's awful. I lived in South America with my family for a couple of years and I can absolutely picture them trying to trip someone up with lies. If you're already nervous, facing mind games is just psychological torture! I'm so happy it all went well.

Congrats, Congrats, Congrats to all moving forward, specially to all who got visa and specially to all who already got together! I am so happy for all of you!

I also wish the fast and successful moving forward to all who are waiting.

Me, closer the interview, more sad I am, it's like the waiting is never ending and all the misunderstanding and worries, he stops talking to me sweet for a few hours, I panic, he doesn't think of me at all I think, I am busy or driving and can't chat, hee panics asking what's wrong? I guess we both are in the same, long distance is not easy at all and for all of us.

Just waiting, Tasha

The fiance takes his 6 hour train ride down to Naples on Monday. Medical Tuesday, interview Wednesday morning. It's getting so close, I never thought this month wait was going to end but it went by fast. I think I'm nervous enough for the both of us.. definitely will be staying up late Tuesday night waiting for that good news phone call!

I can't believe that there are people that filed in July (as did I) that are still waiting. Not only are we done with this process we are married! It seems very inconsistent on the speed at which things processed. Good luck to those still waiting.

My fiancé just got out of his interview in Morocco and we're honestly not sure if it's good news or not.

We didn't have the Certificate of Celibacy (because he's been married before and had the original certificate and divorce decree). They told him he would need to get a copy of that (with translation) and take it and his passport to an office in Marrakech (where he's from). He's also supposed to register for a website (which I know is supposed to be a good thing). But they also told him after he submits this certificate and his passport to that office it will be sent in for review. What the hell does that mean?

I had hoped today would be cut and dry. We thought we had everything they wanted and we know we have a real relationship with mountains of proof to go with that. But I'm still left on pins and needles because I don't know what this all means exactly. I'm hoping that mean he was approved, but needs this last bit of red tape before the visa will be issued (or why would they want his passport and for him to register on the passport website).

Any insights to save my sanity?

I can't speak specifically for Morocco, but in terms of a US Embassy requesting additional documents at the interview, it's not uncommon, whether it's something the fiance forgot or wasn't aware they needed. In the end, it's just an additional wait time of a week or so after the Embassy receives the requested information for them to review it and process the visa/passport. Of course there are exceptions to every type of situation, but if the interview went well aside from that missing document, and they've requested that the passport is submitted with it, to me it sounds like you're bound for an approval as long as the certificate is in order.

I do completely understand the anxiety that comes along with just not knowing what is going on as we wait, especially when you were so sure you'd know a decision by now. Hang in there. You're still making very good time.

Maybe someone else can give you a better estimate on the wait time after additional information is requested at the interview in Morocco, but I just had to send some encouragement based on what I've seen from others here on VJ.

We applied for SSN today.

Called it an 'interview.' Made us swear to tell the truth. Took us 25 minutes.

He did not look at our application, instead just asked us everything and input it online.

He wanted my Fiance's passport, birth certificate, and I-94 (printed from online).

He also wouldn't even start the process with out the USC SSN.

I'm lucky I brought a copy of the I-129F which had my number on it, since I don't have it memorized lol.

Should have it in the mail within 2 weeks! Woo!
