Allison,

I know your interview is coming up in a couple of weeks and that you were trying to get let in to attend the interview but had some issues with the form. Will you let me know if they let you in? Any other info on this so far?

They still haven't confirmed my name on the guest list after submitting 2 requests (both the 2nd week of October if I remember correctly). We're not planning to submit a 3rd request because I'll either be on the list or I won't be, and I don't think a 3rd request will change that. AND I kind of don't want to harass them.

Someone else in the reviews for the London Consulate said that they put in the request a few days before the interview, that they also received no confirmation, and that her name was on the list when they arrived, so she was allowed inside. HOWEVER I believe she was his wife and it was for a IR-1/CR-1. I can't remember if the form said "spouse / family" or if it had the word "fiance(e)" on it as well, so I'm thinking it will be a toss-up.

I'm hoping to get in, but not expecting to at this point, and that's fine. I have no doubts we'll be approved, but it would be nice to go inside for support and just to be able to see what's happening. If I'm waiting at a cafe nearby, I'll be a nervous wreck. Maybe a pub with a glass of wine would be better.

Habibi's interview is Monday, but time seems to be moving so SLOW to get there. I've been nervous and fidgety all week and it's only getting worse leading up the interview.

Any advice for beating the nervous that I can't do anything about?

The CO won't see me because I'm the US citizen. My fiancé is doing the interview in Morocco on Monday.

And, who isn't nervous when you're finally near the end of a journey? Logic about knowing that we're a real couple and have all the proof to show it is not the same as that gut feeling with a mixture of anticipation, nerves, and hopeful pessimism.

I'm sure I sound like a broken record at this point, but the nerves, for my fiance and I, come from the fact that through this process there is always a 3rd party who holds our fate in their hands. If he was born in the US, there wouldn't be this process of the government trying to decide if ours is a real relationship. And the fact that every relationship is different yet they gauge us all by the same sort of parameters (mostly in the more difficult embassies) feels completely unfair. I know there is marriage fraud out there, and that those individuals are the culprits for why this process is the way it is, but for those of us whose relationships are bona fide, it's gut-wrenching. Of course if this doesn't work out for some reason, we would go the CR-1 route so it wouldn't be the end of the world, but that would be an additional year of us not able to begin our life together.

So of course there are nerves, no matter how confident we are.

ADT, if you're fortunate enough to have that much control over your nerves, then I stand in awe of you, but please understand that there are those of us who can't. It takes time. It's part of being human going through this kind of stressful process.

Cassandra, it is absolutely natural. I wish I had advice on how to help. It's something I haven't quite mastered. I will be riddled with anxiety about a situation one day, and the next feel completely at ease inexplicably. But you certainly aren't alone... the July filers have been there or are about to be there soon. Monday will come and go before you know it, and soon your love will be here in the US with you! :dancing:

Just trying to be confident makes me nervous... i know something will go wrong lol. I feel worse for my fiance, since he's the one who actually has to go through the interview process. Sending good vibes to everyone with their interview coming up, 2 weeks exactly for me!

My fiancé has his interview in 12 1/2 hours and I'm a nervous wreck. Already cried twice and I am at home cleaning like a mad woman. I totally get you! If I was a drinker I'd probably have a drink as it gets closer to interview time but I'm not so just gotta try to stay busy and pretend to be strong for my fiancé sake because otherwise I'll stress him out lol!

Perfectly normal to have nerves about things that we don't have control over. That's why it's called nerves. To worry about someone's opinion of you that can stop you from living your life like you want to is enough to make everyone nervous and wonder what the outcome would be. My fiance's interview is coming up shortly and I'm in the air not knowing trying to have the faith it will be ok I know in the end it's going to be ok no matter what but it's just a time frame that I worry about because if this don't go through we will still Press On and one day it'll happen but we rather for it to happen now and this is where the nerves come in I wish everyone love peace and happiness as they travel through this journey

I hope everything goes well! Fingers crossed!

My fiancé was super nervous but from what he says, they totally understand it. And it makes sense. As someone said before, it's a third person, with who knows what kind of governmental and personally subjective parameters - of course you will be nervous. I think nerves shows emotional investment and won't count against you either. Focus on what an incredible relationship you are fortunate to have! Your story, like everyone here is unique and special because it endured distance at a time where people in the same city have difficulty connecting. This isn't going to get in the way of it, no matter what!

All the best to you and anyone getting nervous. :)

My fiancée got her visa already but I was still nervous and couldn't sleep the night before the interview. She didn't tell me till after the interview how nervous she also was. The thought of a denial is real. Even when u know u are in a real and true relationship, it's a normal physiological process to feel that way- unless u are not or unless u are being paid. Trust me, visa fraud is real and these people can't ALWAYS decipher who is real or fake. so I get why people are nervous, especially if ur fiancé is in a so called third world country. I am yet to see someone denied from the U.K. Or from Australia or even from a poor country as the Philippines. It's just the bias that the COs have. For example- they think people from African countries have ulterior motives to immigrate. Just FYI, the day my girl was interviewed, the first person was granted. The second and third were denied. My girl was the fourth. Speaking to the guy who was the third. He said the CO gave him a hard time cos he said he and his fiancée met through Facebook through his brothers introduction or recommendation. The CO said, " was it through recommendation or through Facebook" and then started giving him a difficult time and raising his voice cos he already wanted to deny him. Why? Cos "when u are African and meet on Facebook, then it seem like u are fishing for a green card from a vulnerable American." But we know that's BS and not always true. The other girl who was denied looked so nice when I spoke to her but I couldn't ask her what happened cos she was clearly devastated. My girl was grilled with questions and the CO kept saying "your fiancé has a child right and kept repeating to see if she would waiver. I would just say we were successful cos of the burden of evidence- This is my forth time in Ethiopia and he realized I was waiting outside for her and saw the extra stamp on my passport as being in Ethiopia now, took her to my home country of Nigeria which wasn't cheap and he saw the tickets and even asked her if she had fun and he laughed and said of course. Asked about meeting family, asked about plans for the wedding and she showed him a Hilton hotel reservation contract which we just paid for after the interview, he saw a save-the-date card I made using vista print and i made 100 copies which we started giving out after the interview, he saw that we flew to and from two historical sites in Ethiopia during my third visit. He knows she is a physician and I am a pharmacist. So it's not like she is really desperate to con an American. He saw numerous pics of us with my family and hers. Despite that he wasn't trying to give the visa without making sure we weren't in a foul play. So, yes, it's ok for anyone to be anxious especially if your fiancé(e) is from certain parts of the world. I was anxious despite the burden of proof cos I have read from a girl whose fiancé had numerous proof only to be told that their relationship didn't seem bona fide. Good luck y'all.
