Here is the link again for you: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html

Expand the "Complete an Affidavit of Support form" then just follow the instruction.

Remember Follow it from top down until you have a match with your situation.

Thanks all will read the links provided, hopefully I have no more questions thereafter about separation of gross adjusted I comes.

Please don't just follow some basic 'IF-THEN' chart from the DoS website. The I-864 and I-864A instructions are what you need to read and follow. I am not new to this. What I told you in my post is correct.

What about separation of gross incomes? You will list your own gross income on your I-864. Your stepfather will list his individual income on his I-864 where it asks. Your mom will list her income on her I-864A and then that amount will be listed on her husband's I-864 where it asks. Their combined incomes will be listed on his I-864 for the current household income amount. That amount is what will need to meet the requirement for his joint sponsorship. You said they make $50k combined. That is enough for even a household size of 8 > https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

And, you have mentioned adjusted gross income. Is that from their taxes? AGI is not used. Where it asks for the last 3 years of tax info, that will be Total Income amount from their joint return, so you will repeat that info on each of their forms. Total Income is line 22 of a 1040 form. You only use the AGI if you file a 1040EZ form when filing taxes.

You will list their separate individual current annual incomes where it asks on the forms. Those are separate from the tax info. They can provide a letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs to prove their income amounts. If their income is from some other source, then they need to provide documentation of it.

The joint sponsor will also need to provide proof of being a USC or LPR.

Carefully read through the I-864 form instructions. It gives detailed info on what is required. And the I-864A instructions will tell you what is needed for the mom.
