OK, we are now 0 for 2 regarding cooperating spouses. Linh will go to the police in her ex's town to try and get some ducumentation about his address. I composed a letter with all I know to be true regarding my ex. I would hope that will be enough. What can you do to prove someone's address when that person will not cooperate?

Anh Map,

As for proof of address of your fiance's ex, I can assure you that it can be obtained via Cong An Phuong. The catch is she must be willing to pay. "Bac Ho" or the "Dead Presidents" will get you what you want.

As for your ex whereabouts, all you have to do is having a sworn statement from you telling them where you think she lives now. Have it notarized at your bank. That's it.

Don't sweat it. You will be fine.

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

Anh Map,

You can do the certificate for Linh's ex. Uncle Ho will help you. The letter is not enough, you must submit Uncle Ho to the local police officer. Please remember Uncle Ho, he will help you strongly under Vietnam Law. :)

Anh Map,

I went to my county assesor and I was able to retrieve and print out my ex's resident address. This listing also has her name and when she bought the house. I will have my fiancee to include it in with her supporting evidence during her interview just incase CO asks for it. I hope your ex has her own house then you can obtain proof for her address this way. I hope this helps.

Nope, she's a renter. I am not sure what I can do. I did send off a notarized letter from me with all the specifics I can muster. Let's see what they say about that. I'm headed over in couple of weeks. So if the letter isn't enough I have some time to get something else and being it with me and MAYBE I can bring Linh back with me.

Oh yeah, I'll be sure to send her to the police with some nice portraits of Uncle Ho.

Thanks for the suggestion about going to the police in his town. I will pass that on.

Has anyone had an ex refuse to give any info? US or VN? And if so, what was the outcome?

Does your ex have relatives or friends?

They can write statement with notary telling about your ex current address . here example good luck

Good suggestions, however neither apply. She's the only member of her family here in the States, and she's like a lot of folks with only a cell, so no listing in the phone book.

We'll see how the notarized letter from me goes. I'm heading to HCMC in a week. So if that isn't enough at the Consulate this week I'll bring everything I can with me to VN.

Big picture = PINK!!!!!

Think Big Picture!

What they are really doing is to make sure you and your ex, she and hers aren't living together and trying to pull a fast on the Consulate :) Address is NOT the only piece of evidence where you can show you two aren't together. TAX record can be used as well. You mentioned she doesn't own a home, she rents? Ask the landlord for a copy of her rent contract, give him a sweet green Benjamin, that would do it in most case! Don't say ####### about your real reasons to obtain one, just say: for insurance purpose. I hope she didn't tell her landlord already to look out for Anh Map comes knocking and asking for her rental contract :)

You can also, if you want to go this far, pick up her trash the morning of trash pick up day. Almost 80% of the poeple don't shred their mails or junk mails. Since these are trash and in plainsight, you can pick them up buddy! :) Dumpster Diver! Ok, this sounds shady about it is the extreme scenario which I hope you don't have to go there. Take her junk mails and other free credit card offers from BankOne :) You get the idea!

OH, check with her neighbors. Can they attest to her where about with their own address written on the letter? Show it is next to hers.

The possibility is endless Anh Map. You've gotta try them all and then in the end, if you still don't have it, you can always ask the USCIS to contact the DHS to verify her SSN and find out on their own. Remember, you can not show them what you don't have! Neither does your honey in VN!

Chuck & Kim, thanks for the advice. Remind me to never get on your bad side. :D Linh is now on her way to the ex's town to see what Uncle Ho can do for her. hahahaha My notarized letter has already arrived in Viet Nam so she will go to the Consulate on Wednesday with all the evidence that we can produce.

If there is more needed, I will bring it with me next week.

My ex's landlord is a friend of hers, who lives across the country. I can't easily go and find out anything from her neighbors as I am in New England and she's in FL. I have to think that my letter plus whatever Uncle Ho gets us with Linh's ex, along about 200 additional e-mails and chat logs will take us across the finish line.

Keep the faith for us. I see something PINK in the future.

Know anyone in Florida? in her town? close to it? Ask them to just seating outside her place, take a few roll of films or even video taping her enter and leaving her apartment with visually clear House address and location. Mail the photos and tapes from Florida. You can even hire a PI to do a quick run on her Credit History for you as well, you'll be surprised how much of your suposed private information is publically available to anyone who willing to pay for the dirt.

Good luck

have an awesome strip brother!

Anh Map - Here is my suggestion to you for finding proof of your former spouses address. This is going to require some finess on your part.

If you know a persons name, birthday, and SSN you can pretty much find any information about them on the internet. You may have to pay a nominal fee to do so. There is always an address associated with a person if they have a credit card, own a car, have a license etc.

Complete a background check; past and current addresses will show up. I am sure she is recieving mail where she lives so you are bound to get a hit.

Good Luck

We are hoping that Linh will have success returning to the Consulate on Thursday with the requested info. She got the housebook from one of her ex's relatives. Just a little inducement was needed. My ex refused so I put together a letter with as much as I know and got it notarized. Add in 30 more photos, 75 printed e-mails and another 200 chat logs on a thumb drive should get us over the line.

So be thinking good thought sfor us on Thursday and I'll be back with a report on Friday.
