My husband has a BA in Electronics & Electrical Communications Engineering from Cairo University. He's still currently working as Core Performance Engineer (outsource) for Ericsson. He also has experience/knowledge in programming, (C and C++, Java/Python, and SQL) . When we search for his current work field, we do not any ad's (monster,Indeed, glasdoor) for that specialty. Of course for programming it's plenty. He's willing to do a career shift from communications to software engineering if he can not find work in his current field.

Will his Non US BA degree have any negative effect on him finding work and getting hired as an engineer?

Hi, wish you guys best of luck on the journey , his degree and experience will be fine in USA , and he should start build a network on LinkedIn and contact hr people in USA , not to apply yet, i know people work with there engineering degree from Egypt just fine in USA, they need just good English and real knowledge of your job, and be ready for career shift . i'm considering my self taking FE and PE at some point, that is a test for engineers that would be a plus in USA but not a must. i'm Mechanical engineer by the way.

I noticed that you're in Georgia, you are competing with graduates from Georgia Tech, Georgia State, etc. In this case you might want to put your salary requirements lower. I don't think having foreign degree will be a problem but probably salary wise will be a difference and have to look real hard.

I have a BA in Communications, and I'm actually trying to find a job in Georgia. Im sending resumes to any job positions as long as it is a corporate office job, be it Admin, Operations, secretarial, any. I have 10 years of working experience. But it seems so hard. I have been using google maps to search for companies, mainly big companies because there are more recruitment and prospects. Good luck to your hubby!

Thank you for your advice. We already assumed that being in the Atlanta area he would be competing with the fresh grads from GA Tech. Hopefully he will find work once we're there. I wish you too the best of luck on getting hired if you have not already.
