there's absolutely tonnes to do on the Canadian side of the falls. A lot more than just watch water fall over a cliff. You can spend an entire day and not see everything.

Plus, there's a huge freakin casino!

I have lived on the Buffalo NY / Canadian border my whole life. I have been to the Falls more times than I can remember. My recommendation would be to see the Falls from both sides. The actual view of the Falls themselves is better on the Canadian side. However, it is very expensive and a huge tourist trap. Parking is absurdly expensive! (No offense CherryX) IMO, the American side is great too because the Falls have essentially been left in their natural beauty - it is a state park. (You can even find FREE parking along the rapids!) I can be your tour guide!!!! Anyway, NF NY is truly a beautiful setting - you can walk along the rapids and out onto some islands that overlook the Falls.

On either side, you must do the Maid of the Mist boatride! Excellent on a hot sumeer day!! Its really cool to see tha Falls up close and personal. (The lines for this attraction are typically shorter on the US side!)

Griff (UK) and I have back and forth over tha border many times. As long as your parents have their I-94s in their passports they won't have any trouble coming back into the US. The Canadians won't even take a second look!

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Regardless of what side you choose - have fun! And really, either way you can't lose!

Jules

P.S. Griff prefers the US side too!

In summary:

Canadian side = tourist trap

American side = national park

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Lol..exactly....you summarized it perfectly (darn, I could have saved time in typing my previous post on this message thread if I summarized it like that, as I said exactly the same thing, but in more words)! Lol..Hence that's why the American side is better, in my opinion, indeed!

We stayed on the Canadian side when we went and had a ton of fun. Lots of shops, cheap sourvenirs, museums, cheesy stuff, wax museum hehe. Also I recommend going on the maid of the mist OR taking the thing where you walk behind the fall I forget what it was called. I've been in both the winter and the summer and it's beautiful. Hope you have a great time. I know I did!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

ooooooo, talk about putting my foot in my mouth! :o I never was any good with words and I never meant to insult anybody or anyplace - I just got on the wrong track! What I was talking about was the Falls only -not the actual place!! If you know what I mean B). The water in other words, not the attractions or places to visit or stuff to do!

We had a great time on the Canadian side and it will always be very special to us because it was the first place we spent time together. But then again, we did it on a very tight budget and never had the money to go into the museums, shops etc etc.

The USA side will also be special to us because we got married there - and to be honest, we would have loved to have gotten married on the Canadian side, but stipulations were againts us!

To sum it up, the Falls on either side are spectacular and well worth a visit!! Anything else I can't comment on as I have

not experienced them - so sorry, sorry, sorry

Me and my fiance been there twice on the Canadian side. That's where we met the first time and we went back for our 1st year annversary. I can totally agree on that quote.

Except the view of the Falls, I wasnt impressed at all. Im not big on tourists attraction. We were there soley to spend some time together and all we saw was really the Falls, the hotel room and that Very good Italian restaurant on Lundy's Lane. The rest, urgh. No offense if anybody lives in Niagara falls, buts its kinda sad. I mean if you drive outside that touristic area, about 5 min. Dont even try to find a nice restaurant after 7-8 on week days, its like the city is dead or something. Im used to Montreal and oh well I didnt know it could be like that. I enjoyed my trip anyways but I would recommend to spend more than 2 days there. Once you see the falls, youre pretty much done IMO.

I'll try US side next time. :)

Edit: I am canadian :P
