Both Canada and US usually allow UK citizens to visit without getting visas. So you can see (the more spectacular) Canuck side.

Will they need to go through immigration again to get back into the US? and am i ok with my Green Card.. coming in and out?

Yes, on both. You (as well as they) will certainly need to clear immigration entering the US through a land-POE. Your GC will be fine for the re-entry; it would be advisable for them to carry the return tickets to UK (for satisfaction of the USCBP officious).

I've been to both sides of the Falls and although it certainly is spectacular on the Canadian side, I have to admit that I found the USA side even more so! The Falls on the Canadian side is really all there is to see - if you know what I mean! The rest of Niagria (Canada) is nothing special.

When we went on the USA side, we found we could spend the whole day there going around different parts of the river and rapids - using the free bus you get to see parts that really you would not know were there and could easily by-pass.

But then again, I think its personal preference and to be honest, if you get the chance - go to both sides!! See it all because it really is worth it!!

Hope you all have a fantastic time - wherever and which ever side you do go on.

Pauline (F)

p.s. I would also advise that your parents take their passports to show their visa in their passport otherwise they will end up being charged $7 for entry into USA - thats what happened to my daughter who was only popping over for a quick visit to attend our wedding! But thats a different story

My friend's Australian bf came for a visit and they went to Canadan no prob. I'm sure it's the same for UK citizens.

The Canadian side is best IMO. Plus there are many cheesy shops and "museums" there...so fun! The Niagara Falls, NY has a great outlet mall if you're in the mood for shopping.

Have fun!

What???? How could you not love all that hellish tourist-trap stuff they have just up the road from the Falls on the Canadian side?!?!

To the OP... if your parents are coming over on the VWP and you drive over (and back) from the US, they'll probably just get a bit of mild quizzing at the border - that's what happened to me (and my mum), anyway. But whoever said to go on the Maid of the Mist boat... yeahhh, do it, it's fun, and you get absolutely soaked!! Oh, and they also have double-decker Routemaster London buses over there, too - I was *so* annoyed, I took a load of pictures of them (so bizarre, seeing a London bus bound for Battersea Bridge or Piccadilly Circus, with Niagara Falls as the backdrop...!) on my cameraphone when I was there, and they all got mysteriously deleted. :(

Have fun... the Falls are amazing!!

Now, I'm really ticked off by this.

  1. It is widely acknowledged (not only by Canucks) that the Canuck side is more spectacular
  2. Also, you imply that the rest of Canada (which, by the way, has a geographical area about equal to all of Europe except for Ireland, Iceland and Great Britain) is not spectacular--and there is plenty of beautiful territory to explore!

I think he meant there isn't much around Niagara on the Canadian side. No idea if that's true, but I don't think he was condemning the whole country. (It's not like Jasper is a quick hop from Niagara.)

Relax. It's just an opinion. It probably should read:

"The rest of Niagria (Canadian side) is nothing special...."

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Hi Lizzy,

Good luck on your immigration journey. Hope you and your family have fun at Niagara Falls (New York and Ontario).

Personally, I've been on both sides (lol..what Canadian/American hasn't?) and I prefer the New York, USA side of Niagara Falls, as it is more of a scenic, park-like, naturistic, peaceful, and quieter side. Land-wise, there is a lot more on the US side, and there are many views of the falls from the US side, versus the Canadian side with one main view. Also, it is less touristy and less gimmicky too than the Canadian side. The falls seem more natural on the US side, just the way nature intended. :)

By the way, just be careful when you drive over the customs/border at Niagara Falls. Have all your paperwork ready beforehand, for everyone!.....
