Questions about the Poverty Guideline household size

Hello guys,

Just have a question about the poverty guideline household size.

I am the petitioner but do not meet the 125% poverty guideline so I need a joint sponsor.

my question is...so when I have a joint sponsor....is my household size going to be 3 or just 2?

no, you will fill out your i864 with your household size of 2

your joint sponsor will fill his or her i864 with their household size plus the beneficiary

You and your joint sponsor will fill out two separate I-864's and you will each have your own set of household sizes.

If it's just you and your spouse, than your household size is 2.

If your cosponsor has ANY dependents, then their house hold size is the cosponsor, ANY dependents, and your spouse.

You are not included on the household size for your cosponsor, because your cosponsor is not sponsoring YOU, they are only sponsoring your spouse and those they take care of already.

So, if your cosponsor has two dependents, then their household size will be 4. Cosponsor, two dependents, your spouse.

If your cosponsor has NO dependents, then their household is 2. The cosponsor and your spouse.

Your cosponsor then has to make sure they make enough for the number of people in their household.
