I tried to find out searching the forums but couldn't find clear answers. Here are our questions:

Will NVC inform us by email about receiving the file and when processing is finished or is it only by mail?

Will the consulate send the packages (3;4 ???) By mail or email? Our postal service in Ecuador is very unreliable and slow if it works. We are prepping our papers for the interview and don't want to loose time waiting for things to arrive (or not) by mail.

We got notification from USCIS 4 weeks ago and our file should be in processing with NVC by now.

Our consulate is Guayaquil, Ecuador. I, the petitioner, am in Ecuador st the moment to assist my fiance with the prep for the last step. Our intention is to fly to the US together as soon she has her K1.

Thanks for any help/clarification of the process.

Hey, usually you should be calling NVC to see if they have received your case and then they will give you a case number(which allows you to schedule medical , track when your case gets to the embassy, you can fill out ds-160 etc) they send you the actual letter with case number way after (sometimes even after its sent to the embassy already)

I'm not sure how it works in Ecuador but in Afghanistan we have a really bad mailing system and the packets are emailed not mailed. I can imagine if they have a known poor mailing system they would do the same.

Hope this kinda sorta helped lol. I'm still waiting for my case to be received by NVC as well.

NVC sends the email if they have good ID and informs you of all you need

No letter if they have an email address

all should come to the email of the petitioner the US citizen

thank God the internet is decent and you can check there in Guayaquil

I was even able to get into my bank and pay the visa fee from Ecuador

Good luck / it will still be months before the interview

fazram, Kris&me thank you so much for your quick reply.

We are actually hopeful to get our interview fairly quickly as soon as the file is received by the consulate, which should be very soon.. Ecuador has one of the fastest statistical time between receiving and interview compared to most others (about 3 weeks+).

I will call the NVC center to find out about there status. We see a bunch of files with the same NOR2 date (06/06/16) marked as received, we were just not sure whether we would get an email when they receive it (which is obviously not the case)

Do NOT presume the granting of a visa, especially in Guayaquil.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hello Tbone,TX.

Of course nothing is guaranteed but we are still pretty upbeat about it. We don't think there are any red flag as we have crossed our T's and dotted our I's.

The finances are sound and we have extensive traveled together in the US and in Europe during the 4 years of our courtship supporting the evidence of our bone-fida relationship. I believe the consulate will be fair in looking at our case as they have no reason not to.

Every case is different and often things are border line which creates a greater risk for denial. We will see what happens but continue in the mean time to prepare for our new life together in the US.

NVC may not confirm with you when they receive it / are processing it...I confirmed this with an immigration lawyer and she said it's common that they don't do this. I just received confirmation when the papers were being sent out to the embassy after already being processed by NVC.

NVC sends the papers directly to the consulate in Guayaquil. They will mail your fiance a confirmation to his/her mailing address, but I was also informed by email. If you want, about a week or so after NVC says they've sent the papers to the embassy you can start emailing the embassy to see if they have received the papers and are ready to proceed.

Don't get overly scared about going thru the embassy in Guayaquil- people had problems in the past but I've heard its gotten a lot better. Every there was incredibly kind to my fiance and I. I would say though, do not assume that the second they approve your visa you can head to the States. Originally they told us to pick up the visa from the embassy one week after the interview (we chose to pick up the visa there instead of rely on DHL, just a personal preference because we were visiting relatives near Guayaquil anyways, and I didn't feel comfortable trusting in DHL since we wanted to leave to head to the States soon afterwards). We ended up having a ton of problems with the embassy as they were processing the visa - they took my fiance's fingerprints wrong TWICE, they had an issue processing his DS 160 form, etc. So be prepared for that and don't think you will have your visa in hand sooner than one week after the interview at the absolute minimum.
