Congrats on the case complete! My scan date is June16. I'm checking the NVC website for that third N/A a few times every day haha. I know I shouldn't really expect it for another two weeks but I'm really itching to go back to the U.S. with my wife!

Question: I am the petitioner for my wife. If I have the ability to move to the US for a job and my case is at the NVC, how can I proceed? Do I just notify them that I have moved to a new address? Or should I keep the address as the old Canadian address?

Thank you.

Hi guys, I'm just freaking out :(

My joint sponsor did not check the box that he’s submitting his tax returns for the last 3 years and he is submitting them. Can I do it with a pen after I-864 has been printed out and signed by him? I am asking because according to I-864 instructions, the bar code contains only the info we enter while the form is still on the computer (see below). In this case, even if I check the box, it will not appear in their system.

“If you are completing this affidavit on a computer, USCIS will capture the data you enter using 2D barcode technology. This capture will ensure that the data you provide is accurately entered into USCIS systems. As you complete each data field, the 2D barcode line at the bottom of each page will shift as data is captured. Upon receipt of your affidavit, USCIS will use decoding equipment to extract the data from the affidavit.”

I am really worried about it as it will take another 3 weeks till I get the corrected I-864 from my joint sponsor.

Thanks a lot :(

I am in same situation. I was not able to write numbers in my apt box so I hand wrote it. Hopefully it will be fine. I don't want to get check listed for simple thing like this.

Hopefully someone here can answer our question.

Thank you in advance.

I think you can only edit and print the page containing the check box (hope its not on the page where the signature is)

Then you can replace the old one.

My husband did that and according to him, the barcode on the page is only for this same page.

I'm not absolutely sure but you can at least consider it...

Thank you, jenya_ds!

I might do so or the other option is to add a letter with an explanation that my sponsor has added tax returns for 2 more years.

Since we cannot be sure if the bar code contains only information about the current page or affects the whole application, then I prefer to add an explanation letter. What I'm thinking is that the bar codes contains the information on the current page plus is somehow connected to the other pages to avoid overwriting a form. For example, I might make my sponsor sign a I-864 form and then re-do the whole form except the signature page. Do you see my point? I'm afraid if I print only the corrected page, they might get the wrong message and reject my whole package.

If you have already submitted DS-260 than you can update petitioners address at the interview and reaffirm at the POE. This is what my husband hand to do recently. No need to call NVC.

You need this address updated because this is the address the green card will be mailed.

Please see this link. It is very helpful. I agree that bar code will not feed all the data in the computer and the human eye has to verify it. I was able to click the box for my apartment, but wasn't able to write apartment number. Therefore, I just hand wrote apt no. I feel like this might not be an issue. But oh well we never know what they will do. lol
