Hello everyone. I hope all is well. How long does it take to receive social security after arrival in the U.S. ?Can one get a job with just the social security or do I also have to wait on the green card as well?

If you don't have your SSN card within 21 days of your POE, go IN PERSON to your local SSA office and see if your application was forwarded by the Immigration officer. It only works about 50% of the time when you tick the box on the DS-260.

As soon as you have your SSN you may work. Your passport visa and the immigration stamp is the equivalent of your green card.

Good luck!

APPROVED!!!!

Got to the embassy 6:30am, was out 10.00am. Interview was less than 2mins, and only 4 questions asked.

1. Who is inviting you to US?

2. How long did you first see each other?

3. What year did you marry?

4. When did she travel to America?

After answering all the questions, he handed me 2 white sheets, saying I should pick up the visa in a circled location in 2wks time, and the other saying I should pay my green card fee after which I can then travel to the US. It wasn't as tenzed as I thought it would be.

Thanks to all of you for your help and support. This forum is really a good preparer.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY. Congratulations :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

I have dont have in my interview letter. Stated it's sent to the Consulate but for extra precautions I wanted to take to interview but this USPS postal service can be so slow sometimes ? But thank alot for letting me know. And got no checklist either. So have to see what i can do ? And all the very best for your interview ??????

Hey I think you're stressing yourself for no reason. If it doesn't say it in the p4 don't worry about it. Go to your interview and relax. The least that can happen is a 221g.

Hmmm...does anyone know how you can print call and chat logs on BBM?

Copy all as word document. You just have to send a few pages maybe from start and current chat. I sent just 10 pages of viber skype line and text messages

You will get an e-mail from NVC about the interview. Once they send your case to the embassy CEAC will change to "In Transit". Once the embassy has everything CEAC will be "Ready".

Good lord I swear Immigration (DHS) and social security need yo get it together. You check the box to say yes you want Social Security card sent and nothing happens.

Just went to SS office with hubby. And nope he isn't in the system and they need to verify his identity with immigration 4 to 6 weeks she says give it time. Seriously. Goodness
