Congratulations Mayur ...ur visa is almost done. But i do hv some queries ........please let it clear that opt out permission letter was asked in ur interview?or regarding that any questions were asked to u?and please also want to know about other questions which were asked to u in the interview.please share ur whole experience at Mumbai consulate.

Thanks Digant. They haven't asked for opt out approval letter so I didn't present it to them.

After entering to main area, first thing is to take token then one officer has collected my documents and forwarded to consulate officer for interview.

After waiting for 20 minutes I was called for interview.

After oath, he asked where is my i-864 form? Then, he asked my petitioner's name, what you do, what your petitioner do, where he stay, when he visited you last time, have you been to USA before?

And then the main question, why you haven't married yet? :)

And then he started typing and took print out of 221g white slip and asked me to follow the instructions.

That's it :)

Hello Guys,

Sorry for replying late. My interview has been done on October 5. Officer has put my case on hold for further review as I didn't bring my I864 form. He gave me 221g white slip with the list of documents that I need to submit at CGI(Drop-off locations) with my original passport.

Documents I'm requested for...

Form i-864 (Originally signed by petitioner)

2015 IRS form 1040(Income Tax returns)

2015 W-2 form

We have submitted Tax returns and W-2 form(for year 2014) of petitioner last year, when they have requested in 2015. Now year has been changed(after April) and they required to see 2015's docs.

I should get those documents by Monday and will submit to local CGI center in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Typically it takes 3-4 days to review(Their timeline is 60 days) and then they issue visa.

So my advice is to bring those docs when you go for an interview.

Hope this helps you guys.

All the best! :-)

Congrats buddy !! Keep in touch !!

Thank you brother :) and all the best!

Wow! It is 10 days before my interview. Thanks God I participate in this thread :)

Thank you, Mayur1608!

I was in doubt regarding bringing renewed financial documents to the interview, so I decided not to because:

1. My dad submitted original I-864EZ, and copies of his 1040 and W-2 for FY2014 to NVC (in late 2015).

2. In IL, in Required Visa Interview documents section the "FINANCIAL EVIDENCE" checked as "Y" (The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate).

3. In IL, in Interview Reminder section it says "If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview".

4. My dad never filed any tax extension.

I just called my dad and asked him to FedEx-mail me newly signed original I-864EZ (the previous signed one is in NVC) and copies of most recent Form 1040 + W2.
Again, Thank you all, especially Mayur1608! I will keep you posted, don't doubt.

Congratulations! Seems aside from you having to send in the missing documents, your interview was pretty standard and straightforward. Good going. I hope you get your docs in and passport back in hand to travel soon. good luck!

Did you initially request an opt-out?

I've heard them asking why not married previously because the wait is so long, some people do get married without realizing that makes their application under F2b null and void. Even if marriage and divorce, once they got married, that's it. They'll caution you to not get married before you enter the US.

Simple enough questions, tho they ask different ones based on your IV application.

I'm happy for you :)

I would have not joined this topic, if I'm married :-) I'm still single and I don't have any children.

Usually they ask this question, as people get marry during the waiting period of F2b and many of them don't inform NVC about that. So at the time of interview officers ask for that and if they have any doubt they will ask more questions on that and they can visit your home as well. I have seen such cases where they went to beneficiary's home(without any prior notice) or call to neighbors to verify it.

They check all the things very thoroughly. So we must be truthful and straight when we are answering to their questions. And think for the consequences before giving answers of such sensitive questions.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

Hello Aktar,

We both are sailing in the same boat. I was 24 and now 30 and still single. But that's our choice, we cannot blame on them.

They have limited quota(2.65 lacs per year) vs unlimited applicants. So definitely it will cause delay.

It's safe to have opt out approval letter, though they haven't asked me for that. Getting opt out approval letter is very simple process.

Worrying is never ending process :-) once you get visa then you will start worrying about starting new phase of life in USA and getting settle down there, then there will be something else and so on....

So don't worry about this and get ready yourself. I was little disappointed when I got 221g, but then I thought I have been waiting since last 7 years, and now few days more. Nothing gonna change. :)

All the best :)
