How to opt out man ?

I emailed to CIS.NDI@dhs.gov

And this is the reply I've received and I follow the same. I got opt out approval in 10-15 days. Make sure you have this approval in place before you go for interview if you want to continue in F2B. They will ask for that.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your inquiry.

All opt out requests must be signed and submitted to USCIS in writing. Requests may be submitted by mail to the following address:

DHS/USCIS

Attn: OPT-OUT NOTICE

Tel: 011-24198000

You may also submit your request in person during our office hours Monday thru Thursday, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Please make an appointment to appear at our office via Infopass here. We are closed for certain US and Indian holidays.

Your opt out request must include a copy of the approval notice for the petition, proof that the petitioner has naturalized, a letter containing a request to opt out of automatic conversion, and any other documentation that may be relevant to your request.

I am not caribbean but what I did is send an e-mail to USCIS office at the US embassy on my country. They answered that I had to send a singed document and provided the address. But, as I live in the same city, I prefer to go to the office. I think you should send an e-mail to USCIS office at the US embassy on your country and ask for the opt-out.

Ok thank you. How long does it usually take after you sent the signed letter.

Are you going to send in the opt-out request?

Usually it takes 10 - 14 days for a response, based on previous cases. Everyone telling to wait until the October bulletin comes out, its a 5 month difference between dates btwn F1 and F2B. Talk about angst, ugh!

Haha i know thats the reason i asked about the turn around time for the request. I waa planning on waiting until its closer to the pd in both f1 and f2b and then make my decision.

I dont know because I havent done anything yet, I am waiting for the next VBs to make a decision, because I think that, when you opt-out, you cant go back to F1 again. What I read is that it doesnt take too long, 1 or 2 weeks, but Im not sure.
