Vaccinations. which ones needed

hi everyone, my wife doesn't have proof of getting any vaccinations although she did when she was younger. which vaccinations does she need? can she get them now or does she have to wait for the medical in bogota? someone posted that for colombia TD, Varicela and MMRR are requiered, what does TD and MMRR stand for and are there any more that need to be done like mumps, rubella etc

Hi,

My fiance is Colombian and just had his vaccinations done. He had to get three as he had no record of past immunizations: Varicela (chicken pox), Td (tetanus/diptheria), and MMR (measles, mumps, rubella). According to packet 4 for Colombia, these are the only required vaccinations for someone his age. He waited until after we received Packet 3 and knew the interview date to get the vaccinations.

She can get them at any Red Cross in Colombia, they are very familiar with the vaccinations for the US embassy. Just make sure they are not taken a month before the medical.

Claudeth had to get a tetanus shot when she got her because St. Luke's didn't carry that vaccine.

thanks Kathy for the response but Mononoke, why shouldn't she get it one month before? when would be the best time to get it? now? wait until the medical in bogota? she is in barranquilla now, should she contact a clinica or goto the red cross as you suggested?

Tell her to call Dra. Maria Consuelo González @ 288.7629 or Dr. Jairo Rosa @ 215.1763. These two doctors are on the embassy list for the medical in Bogotá. They should tell you exactly when she can get the vaccinations before the medical. I read somewhere that they cannot be more than a month but they should be able to tell her directly. Once she finds out, all she has to do is go directly to the Red Cross and they'll give them to her with no problems. Most people get ther vaccines at the Red Cross in Colombia, so she should be ok.
