Active shooter reported at Joint Base Andrews

This is getting to be a daily event.

WASHINGTON —Personnel are being directed to shelter in place at Joint Base Andrews, near Washington D.C., due to a report of an active shooter.

The base, which is located in Prince George's County, Maryland, put the alert out through social media.

"The incident is ongoing at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility. First responders are on-scene now. All personnel continue to shelter in place," the base wrote in one message.

That medical facility houses primary care clinics, a pharmacy and a surgery center, according to the Air Force's 779th Medical Group.

JBA reports that base security was conducting an active shooter drill Thursday morning, when they received an actual call about someone with a gun.

Officials find no active shooter at Joint Base Andrews

Joint Base Andrews went on lockdown Thursday due to a report of an active shooter.

It happened around 9:00 a.m. at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility.

All personnel were directed to shelter in place.

The base said it was scheduled to conduct an active shooter exercise, but reports of a real-world active shooter situation were made.

Law enforcement officials announced no active shooter was found at the base around 10:30 a.m.
