Being Jerked around at US Consulat in Morocco

Dear mona_jamie,

Could you please give me the email address at CASA where you sent the email regarding the hardship your partner was enduring. My fiance is now on his way home from the Consulate for the 3rd time; it took him 16 hours to get there, and he is now on the bus home. They wanted a paper saying that he didn't have an engagement party, and they wanted it written in Arabic, and then paid for it to be translated into English even though he could write it in English himself. I want to write to them in the hopes of putting an end to this. We don't have the money, the time, the patience or the ability to handle any more stress.

I hope you can help me with the address and any tips about the letter itself, and who did you address it to, please?

Sincerely and Thanks,

Carol

I'm sorry your fiance is going through this. As others have said, this is normal for Casa, and no, it is not fair. Sometimes it feels like a test to see if they will break. My fiance was called in for his visa, turned away ("broken machine") and told to come back the next week, turned away again and told to come back the next day. For what it's worth, I emailed Casa a very polite letter, expressed what a difficulty and expense the travel and lodging were becoming for my fiance, and they gave it to him on his third trip there. Hang in there. He should have it very soon, and then he can wave goodbye to that consulate. (F)

You can email them at ivcasablanca@state.gov but they won't release the visa until you have the right papers. I never heard of a fiance party paper, that seems strange to me. I'm sure you mean the paper that he is single and the court document it has to have the word none or nothing stamped on to it or they won't accept it. Those papers weren't on the list but they're asking this from everybody.

Good Luck!
