Hi, so my boyfriend and I are getting married this August (we're eloping). We've dated for about a year and a half. He's from Russia and is about to complete grad school. I'm still in undergrad. My campus has a residency requirement, which requires me to live on campus. I emailed the lady to see how I could get permission to live off campus, and she said I needed to show her the marriage certificate in order to get approved. This would mean that we would only have about 10 days to get married, get the certificate, show it to my university, and then find and sign a lease. We've decided that it may be easier if I continued to live on campus this semester, since it would be extremely stressful to find a place to live within that amount of time (I don't want to sign a lease before I get permission from my school in case of the slim chance that they do not grant my request). We plan on filing the I-130 and I-485 as soon as we can after we're married. My main worry about this is that line 21 on the I-130 asks for the last address that my spouse and I lived at. And in this case I wouldn't know what to say in that line since we've technically have never lived together, although I spend more time at his place than I do at my room on campus. I really appreciate any advice that anyone could give about this situation and what to put in line 21, I'm so worried! Thank you!

hi

don't file if you don't live together, you have to prove that your marriage is bona fide, so try by renting something as soon as possible, having one place, one address, and have your mail and everything you can with that address, mail, a joint bank account, car insurance, health insurance, any bills, credit cards, cable'

all you can get at the same address, then at the interview, you will need to present more evidence of comingling of finances and proof that you are a bona fide marriage

Are you suggesting that they not file the I-130, or the I-485?

Also, I'm a little confused by OP's post... the I-130 is for the IR-1/CR-1 visas, which do not need to file the I-485, at least as far as I can tell. I-485 are associated with K1 visas. Not sure which visa they are applying for--spousal or fiance?

OP will filing for adjustment of status for her future husband as he is currently in the USA on a student visa. So it will be I-130 and I-485 concurrently.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

I am filing for my spouse and from my research it shows that we need to file the I-130 and I-485 concurrently.

We have lots of evidence of our relationship... thousands of messages, many many pictures, vacations together, and he came home with me for about two weeks last December. I also have many people that would be willing to write affidavit letters. We plan on making a joint banking account and combining bills. I will also be changing my last name to his! Overall, our relationship is very legitimate and if we could we would love to live together starting this semester. However, the time frame of 11 days would be extremely stressful to make, and I want to enjoy my wedding day rather than worry about getting the certificate as soon as possible in order to show it as proof to my university and then only have a couple days to find somewhere to live. Also residence and housing has not 100% guaranteed that they would approve it. We would really like to file this as soon as possible for work and personal reasonings.
