Why would anyone claim to be a woman, or black, or whatever. The point is with these new laws, they can for whatever reason they deem and if you question them you will be destroyed in a truly left wing fascist way.

The point is all these laws, ordinances, etc., for all these special groups undermines the laws, ordinances already there. They are full or unintended consequences especially when they (elitist leaders) try to control and regulate thought.

I guess I was mostly thinking about the NYC ordinances outlining business penalties if you use the wrong pronoun. As already mentioned, they are all people and should be treated equally. I don't need some government telling me what words to use which smacks of fascism. If you come to me and look like a woman, I wouldn't ask you to prove it and I would most likely use the address Ms. and the same if you looked like a man. If I was wrong and was corrected, I would change according to the person's preference, but with these ordinances, the government says I should be punished for making a mistake. I don't need a nanny state government to tell me how to treat people, and punish me if I make a simple mistake. As to HB2 this is an overreach in the other direction. Transgendered people have been using the bathroom of their choice for a long time as you stated, but do transgendered people rally want the press that has come with this issue?

i think you realize that the nyc ordinances have to do with business/hr, since you said "ordinances outline business penalties' but then you go on to hurdle over into a scenario of misidentifying someone upon first meet small talk and facism. i don't follow. the nanny state is not telling you that you, personally, in your day to day interactions with people, will be punished for making a pronoun mistake. you seem reasonable enough so, i know you know that isn't the current scenario.

i don't think that transgendered people asked for the press that came with the issue but what else can be done but fight for what's right? people are going nuts of people using the bathroom and i bet you 99% of those folks have used facilities at the same time as a transgendered individual and never knew the difference. clearly, to me anyway, the purpose of allowing people to choose what restroom they use, is for that person's protection.
