Maybe someone can help me too. I have lived in the US before and I already have a SSN and card. However, it comes with the saying: valid only with work authorization from DHS (or something like that).

Now I have a interview date on July 29 for a CR1 visa in Brazil. I have a job offer to start on September 6. I am wondering if I can use my SSN for that, with the green card stamp being the work authorization, or do I have to first remove the saying on my SS card? I was counting on using my card immediately because I'm afraid the new SS card wouldn't arrive on time to start the job.

Thank you for any help,

Mics

From what i know, I don't think ssn changes??

either way you can use it with the stamp on it since only thing they are doing is to update your info with same number.

IF they say something about it, that stamp shows that you CAN work & let them know your info is updated so if they check your status you are legal to work.

I still work with my ssn with stamp on it, they didn't say anything.
