We have been preparing for our K3 interview at the US Consulate in Rio ahead of time (i.e. Medical/Physical exam done in January 2007, police cert., documents, etc.). :clock: As I followed our petition very closely from the start, our case finally made it to the Rio Consulate recently on 03-14-07. So I decided to email Rio (03-19-07) to find out the status. Rio consulate has always been very responsive to my emails, but this one had a bonus: it included an INTERVIEW DATE!! :jest: We didn't even receive or send any packet 3. So now we are scheduled for April 19! Here's the response I've received from them:

...your interview is scheduled for April 19, 2007 at 07:45 am.

Answering your question, yes the I-134 is the form used for a K3 visa; the State/Federal police certificates are valid for 1 year for us; and the medical exam is also valid for our use. Note that it needs to be opened by us only.

Sincerely,

Immigration Visa Unit"

I'm not even sure if we'll receive a letter to confirm the interview date and packet 4 on time. Assuming all goes well, my wife will be going alone and doesn't plan on picking up the visa. If anyone has gone thru the Rio Consulate, could you provide us with some info?

  • Visa payment at Citibank - What do we need in order to process the payment? Acct number, etc?
  • Can Rio send the visa via mail after the interview? If yes, what needs to be done?
  • Any other tips?

THANKS!!! :star:

Congratulations on the interview date.

To pay the fee, she'll need to go to any Citibank with her RDJ #

The visa can be mailed to her, she'll be asked if she wants them to do so

Tell her to stay calm and say the truth. remember, sometimes the CO might make some upseting questions, but he/she is only doing their job, take them lightly.

Good luck

We just went to Citibank with my fiance's passport and said we needed to pay for the visa. We gave him 210 reais (I think).

There was a guy in the line in front of us doing the same thing...
