Istanbul airport explosions: 36 dead, 147 injured, Turkish officials says

Like Obama's speech about why he refuses to call islamic terrorists islamic terrorists? This sort of trick only works on dyed-in-the-wool proles. For everyone else it is just irritating and serves no common good.

For the record the original thread title to best of my recollection was something like "Turkey continues its descent into Islamic terrorism with massive airport attack". This caused one person to lose their mind and a mod to edit it.

So, we should just label everyone now with a default title. I can see it now, White Christian terrorist shoots up mall or Black Baptist terrorist kills 3.

Why does it irritate you?

Labels were all the rage when the kid shot up the church in SC

Let's be clear, labels are only important when it's not the majority. No one has a problem with labeling Muslims, POC, or anyone else.

I like the labels when they explain the reasoning behind the event. Muslim terrorists and 9/11, Christian extremists attacking abortion clinics, nazi a-hole attacking black church, etc.

I dislike it when the label is just to denigrate; like talking about black on black crime just to reinforce racist stereotypes.

Gosh do you ever put the victim card down or is it tattooed to your arm?

Let's be clear, labels are only important when they are accurate. Mine was accurate, but it was changed because of weeping and gnashing and a complaint of somebody who felt it violated their safe space. Plenty of titles in this forum have links in the first post that don't match the thread title.

That's fine with me. If a white christian terrorist shoots up a mall why wouldn't we identify him as such? I like the notion that a default trigger-warning-free title may be necessary for some of the delicate flowers in this forum. They might be better served sticking to more PG topics like taylor swift's makeup.

This kind of fiddling and atomic moderation over word choice is why very few people post in CEHST now; they just get tired of the silliness and go to forums where big boys and girls can talk about things without fretting over micro-aggressions. Look at the front page, half the threads are started by one person and tend to attract a limited number of posters, the forum is barely breathing. Remove 3-4 posters and it would be a virtual cemetery.

Good luck!

Careful, they don't like you to draw parallels between terrorism and islam around here.

Good luck!

Honestly, they cause division IMO. Because as this country identifies as a Christian nation, we only use Christian in a positive context. Even Dear, who clearly attacked that PP clinic in a warped view of Christianity was not identified as such when reported by several media outlets. And when it was posted here, it was like pulling teeth having people admit this was done in the name of Christianity. But I see your point.

I have the Dark Phoenix tatted on my arm. Thanks for asking.

As for the victim card, I'm not sure what you're taking about. You have no issues with labeling Muslims because as you've stated more than once you are bigoted against them, which flies in the face of your signature. But another topic for another time.

Also, the so called delicate posters here are mostly the same ones who start these posts designed to shade a certain religion or race, and get all in their feelings when they're views get torn apart and mocked. The loudest person in the room is also the weakest. Remember that.

I personally don't have a problem referring to Islamic Extremism, Muslim Terrorists or labels of that nature when it's understood that the terms are being applied to groups like ISIS, Al Quida and the like. But where I take issue is when those labels are used in an effort to make blanket comments on all followers of Islam and the Muslim faith.

For this reason I completely understand and respect how Obama refers to these groups and their actions. Obama doesn't want to feed the blanket haters.
