F2A visa? Minor child. How long does it take for a permanent resident green card holder to bring daughter?

If a permanent resident files for their child how long does the process usually take for their daughter or son to join them in the U.S.A? The child is a minor and is living with family members in the mean time. How long does the processing time take?

Is there anything I could do to speed up the process? The daughter is a minor. I don't understand why if the child is a minor they cannot come with the parents. It does not make sense. should I call my field office and ask them how long it might take?! because 2 years is too much. but thanks for providing me with that link.

You don't really have a choice. You have to wait for the PD to become current. File your I-130 ASAP so you get a PD (Priority Date) to begin with.

Family preference category visa with numerical limits are not qualified for expedite.

Perhaps the Green Card parents could apply for 2 years re-entry permit to return home to care for the daughter in the meanwhile.

When the daughter gets an immigration visa, return to the US together with the daughter.

You say "come with the parents" - how are the parents getting their greencard, if they don;t have them yet? Some visa types allow minor kids to come WITH parents, as long as it is done at the same time or within a year of the parent's visa being issued.

You can call and do your research but what they are telling you is accurate. It will be around 2 years. There is nothing you can do to speed it up.
