Hello,

We've just started our little adventure here; and already my fiancee has run into a bit of a snag; something she's really worried about. She's already begun collecting documents for when our I-129F petition is approved.

She went to pick up a copy of her birth certificate which lists her surname as her mother's maiden name (Her parents were separated at the time), but she has been living under her father's surname her entire life. The registration center sent her to the court where they gave her a paper certifying that she'd been known by her father's surname since 1989 (Born 1984) are these documents together sufficient as a proper birth certificate?

Any help, or reassurance for my future wife would be greatly appreciated,

Nick

-Edit Number 2- Turns out her birth certificate appears to have been registered in 1989 (She was born in 1984). It's my understanding that with a birth date and registration difference of more then a year we're going to need more evidence? Is this the case?

Furthermore and unrelated...is there any way to edit previous posts?
