he can't watch the kids and do that :ranting::ranting:

Why can't men multi-task with kids? Mine thinks that watching the kids all day is "doing something" and means he doesn't need to do anything else. Ummm, so the chores and the painting and stuff I do outside must just magically get done by fairies.

I know right!

I bet I will come home to the Jedi in diapers just because it's too hard to take him to the potty.

I told him to go clean it out.

He's like well they just took care of that.

Me- No they cleaned it out back in march! Do you see all that dirt/grass out there??

It's blowing barely any air I can feel cold air but it's next to nothing.

I have an event tomorrow so I know darn well he won't do anything because he can't watch the kids and do that :ranting::ranting:

1- Is the vents blowing as strong as usual?

Yes,-go to 2

No- Your "A-coil" in your inside air handler may be clogged with dirt and grime, or your blower motor is weak.

2- Is the thing blowing cold air?

Yes- Go to 6

No- go to 3

3- Your outside heat exchanger (condenser) may be clogged or blocked. Your outside blower motor may be weak or not working.

4- your compressor (outside), may be weak or not working.

5- You may be low on freon (which means your have a leak somewhere.

6- Don't mess with it.

7- Does it work now?

Yes- go to 6

No- go to 8

8- Call somebody.

If you put your foot on the vent you can feel it's cold, but barely any air coming out of it.

He knows what to clean but didn't want to bother with looking at it because they just clean it out.

No they didn't they cleaned it out in March. The tech's that have been buy to repair and replace parts this summer were not here to clean anything.

If you can barely feel the air pressure, and the air is cold....

The A-coil is cold. Which means your outside unit is ok.

The air is moving thru the A-coil very slowly, enabling the air to cool down as it travels thru the A coil.

Your A-coil may be clogged with dirt, grime, lint, dust, this comes from not changing your air regularly.

Or, the blower motor may be weak. It can be that the motor is old. Or, the capacitor for that motor is old and starting to go. Or, your local utility reduced power due to high demand.

HVAC maintenance guys rarely clean the A-coil. It's inside your air handler, or furnace. Inside your house.

First, change your air filters!

Air filter changed,

We have nothing inside the house the whole unit is outside.

Will tell the Hillbilly to clean the A-coil.

No, you have the air handler inside your house.

The outside unit takes the hot liquid Freon that's returned from the A coil (evaporator coil shaped like the letter A), compresses it, squeezes it thru an expansion valve, when compressed gas expands rapidly, the temperature drops. It then travels thru the bigger copper tube back to the evaporator coil inside your house, where your room air is blown thru it, cooling that air down. THIS, is where the cooling takes place. In doing so, the Freon heats up and condensed into a liquid, and it's returned to the outside unit again.

If you say you don't have an air handler in your house, that means they hid it out of sight in your attic. But the air handler is usually close to where the filters are.

See the big copper tube? Cold freon enters the air handler, into the A coil. Heat exchange takes place when room temperature air is blown thru the A coil. Then freon is then heated back up and condenses. That's why it can travel back to the outside thru that smaller copper tube.

Yes, there is this thing somewhere in your house, and it must be cleaned. The A coil is attached to those 2 copper tubes. The other side is the blower motor.

There's nothing in the attic, guess part could be in the crawl space

If you have a furnace that uses the same ducts, like me, then your A-coil is on top of your furnace.

yes the furnace is in the box unit too

I've never seen that before in my life....

Is that a split system? Even a split system has the air handler inside.

Where's the duct work? There must be 2 huge ducts that go into the house. It'll lose the cool going into the house. This thing must abut the house then. Even so, there's still an A coil in there.
