I am hoping someone can lead us in the write direction.

Certified Birth Certificate ?!

All we have is his samon color baptisum record. How do we get a certified copy near Lagos ?

His dad lives in the Uk

His mom lives 8 hours away in a village.....

I have email the Nigerian Embassy and the Population Office in Abuja But havent gotten any response at all.

Also wonder what clinic someone used for the Medical or does Lagos embassy send you a certain(sur general) they want you to go to. I know there's one on VI.........

12/13/2006 Checked USCIS website and case # is listed!

Application Recieved and PENDING !!!!!:) Now just waiting for the letter they said they sent 12/14/2006

12/18/2006 NOA I-797C #1 Reciept Notice Arrived.

1/30/06-2/19/07 Nigeria Trip # 2 AWESOME !!!

2/28/2007 NOA#2 APPROVED

3/1/2007 Recieved 4 Emails stating Approval NOA # 2 was sent by mail!

3/8/2007 Case transfered to NVC....

3/9/2007 NOA#2 Hard Copy arrived in mailbox !

4/16/2007 Case still under Administrator review at NVC,patiently waiting for movement ! (38 days)

4/20/2007 NVC sent case to Lagos Nigeria ! WOW we have movement

4/25/2007 Case downloaded at Embassy,No notices recieved just called Embassy & emailed them !

5/9/2007 K.visited Embassy and recieved packet 3 & 4. Interview set July 3rd OUR 1 YR Anniversary of meeting !

5/11/07 K. Got Police Record completed,No waiting but lots of traveling for that.

5/12/07 K.Got 1st part of Medical Exam done, Finishes June 6th. !

Got this from a State Department website:

BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES

Generally available, particularly for events occurring after 1970. Registration of births and deaths is compulsory in Lagos. The National Population Commission issues birth certificates for births after 1992.

For Lagos records, certified copies of records for dates ending with 1979 can be obtained at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. For records after 1979, contact the local government that issued the original certificate directly. Most births and deaths outside of Lagos are also registered at the time of the event. Applicants can obtain certified true copies of certificates directly from the local government. Alternatively, acceptable identity/parentage documents are infant baptismal certificates and hospital or maternity clinic records of birth. Home births are rare in Nigeria and medical records are available in most cases. Affidavits may be acceptable as substitutes for documents for those born outside Lagos prior to 1960 or born in the eastern part of Nigeria in the 1960’s at the time of the Biafran War, when presented in combination with convincing secondary evidence of relationship.

I don't know precisely about Nigeria, but I do know that there are probably only a very limited number of clinics that the US Embassy will accept. They should have this information. The US Embassy in Kenya has this information on their website. Have you checked the US Embassy in Nigeria's website?

I got mine issued from my local govt where I was born, if he remembers what local govt that is, then he could get it from there. I live in London though, so I asked my dad to get it for me from there and it was pretty easy. Am sure if he is a nigerian, he should know how things get done when you know the right people. It is the long form of birth certificate that he will be getting and it will be stamped CERTIFIED TRUE COPY. Goodluck and I wish you a Happy life together. :dance::dance::dance:

It cost $25.00US and it took 3 days for processing. A passport Photo is required.

Nigeria is trying to count its population !
