Sounds interesting, but doubt it would ever happen.

Reminds me of all of the brouhaha a few years when some folks in Quebec that wanted to start there own country. If I recall correctly, cooler heads prevailed when the details of such a split became public, i.e., print their own money, raise their own armed forces, accept and pay-off their portion of the national debt for all of the roads, schools, etc. paid with federal tax money, issue their own passports, start their own postal service, set-up their own immigration systems, et cetera, ad nauseam.

Seems like there were a lot of folks in the other provinces that would have been quite content if Quebec were allowed out of the Canadian Confederation, not so certain that there might be similar sentiments voiced in the other states with regards to Tejas.

All of the saber-rattling is good media fodder, a rather simplistic idea, but realistically likely not the brightest idea conjured up recently.

Is the Trump saga wearing thin on GOP watchers? No mention of the recent George Will defection from the GOP? I mean after all, hasn't this November's Presidential race truly devolved to between tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum? :protest:

YMMV.

I was trying to think positive. Perhaps after the Texit we no longer have to spend all pre-season and the first twelve weeks of NFL hearing how this year the Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl.

I think that one element many pro brexiters are not fully aware of is how their personal movement and ability to buy and sell will be restricted after leaving.

In this country we have never needed a passport to go to Disneyworld. If you want to live in Illinois and work in St. Louis, you don't need a visa. You don't need to wait months or years to bring your spouse or parents. In the coming years we will see the final dismantling of the UK as Scotland and Northern Ireland make their own deals or join the EU. American companies in Wales and London will wind down operations and move to Paris or Dublin. The 1 percent of gdp the UK provides the European union will look like a bargain.

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Texas generates enough Federal revenue every year to pay the Budget of the entire Army and a good chunk of the Welfare system. They could provide everything the Federal Gov provides and be way ahead of the game

Sounds like a lot of the same talk made by the Quebecois separatist folks, until the pencils got sharpened and the figures started being worked on.......

It's difficult to know how that might play out. For example, when Ireland gained independence from the UK, people alive before the split were allowed to retain British citizenship. I could even now apply for a Brutish passport, because my father was born before independence.

Also since the 1920s British and Irish people have been free to move between both countries without a passport.

I suspect that the UK probably won't actually leave. The referendum is not binding on the British government, and the two dominant British political parties aren't exactly trilled by the prospect either.

Quebec back in the 90's actually came quite close to voting to leave Canada. VERY VERY close. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_referendum,_1995

I can't see Texas leaving. I honestly wouldn't mind if NY held a separation vote, not to leave the US but for upstate to become a separate state. Politically there is a huge disconnect between update

Good luck!
