Hi, I'm wondering what everyone's take is on the case update in AP, particularly when the interview was over 90 days ago.

I've read various things on this site. I don't know if anyone has the definitive clear answer (I rather doubt it).

But the thing is, some people say, you should get a case update when:

1. An inquiry is made by your congressperson

2. You contact the embassy yourself

3. A 'hit' or name match is found in the security database (for the FBI/homeland security background check - maybe only relevant to MENA countries)

Other people have said you shouldn't get any updates in AP unless your visa is being prepared for issue.

For our case, we've gotten 0 updates, even when my congressperson inquired about our case. Does that seem normal?

What are peoples' experiences with this and updates in general?

It seems like most everyone gets a few updates to their case on CEAC while waiting in AP before issue.

Congressman can only tell you what you already know / they will send him the same informaiton you got in last correspondence

Updates don't really tell you much / i found them less then unful / ours still says ready for interview and he has been here quite a while with his approved visa

AP can lasts forever or your K 1 case can be sent back to the US / if that happens, it is allowed to die and can not be appealed

If it gets this, marry and start all over with CR 1

Well I'm pretty sure we aren't going to be denied because the CO said we were approved.

But for egypt we have to wait for background checks (terrorism fears, which I totally understand).

Mainly I was wondering what the experience people had with updates, whether it meant something or didn't mean anything. Whether people go without any updates at all till their visa is issued that sort of thing.

Any case thanks for all the input! Especially regarding the congressperson. That's kinda what I thought.

I had my interview on July 28 for K1 Visa and until now everytime I check my Ceac status it shows Ready, case ready for interview.. I tried to check it under non immigrant Ceac it shows No Status.. So this is really frustrating ???????
