I got the visa (will write a short review in another thread) but there is something people might be concerned about with Dr. Seiden's in Toronto.

At my interview, they opened up the medical and said it was incomplete because they forgot to check some of the stuff on the sheet regarding the X-ray and TB. There are 3 sections they are supposed to check and even though the first section indicates no problems, the other 2 parts they are supposed to also check "no" and everything normal or whatever. Seems redundant but it ALMOST held up my visa!

The assistant at the consulate who was taking my papers left them a really terse long message to fax them the info right away. Luckily they did, because if they didn't I wouldn't have gotten my visa until then.

Anyway, just something to watch out for as a possible delay.

Misa, thanks for the heads up! I was telling my husband last week that it looks like Dr Seiden is the closest Dr to do his exam when the time comes..

Can I ask how much your exam was also? We are friends with other Canadian/American couples living in Canada and we are the first to go with US Immigration process...so Im documenting everything for them including costs so they know what to expect when they decide to start their processes..

I'm curious. Why did they open the medical at the interview? Isn't it supposed to be handed over at the POE sealed?

On another note, TB has become a big problem ... there was an article in today's New York Times about its spread in Africa. I remember having to have a TB test before entering York University in 1993.

Kimmbo, the medical was $185. An extra copy of it costs $50.

Jersey Girl, they put those papers as well as other papers into another big (white) envelope that is sealed to hand over at the POE. I thought they did that at everyone's interview to see if someone is immediately ineligible due to something like being HIV positive, etc.

The hard part's over now that I have my visa in hand except now comes the packing so we can move on Friday. The customs forms are giving me a headache.
