Hi I am new to this amazingly helpful forum. I just wanted to sincerely thank everyone for helping each other out. I've been reading the forum for the past weeks and learned a lot already! But I just have a few questions in mind - I am not sure if someone is in the same boat. Thank you in advance for reading and answering.

A little background:

Around April of 2012, I went to the Philippines to finish college. After 4 months of being there, I met this beautiful and lovely girl and we've been together ever since. We were so in loved that after 1 year of being together, I asked her to move-in to my apartment. We have travelled around the Philippines few times a year during breaks.

So, fast forward to 2016 - I finished my degree and needed to find a job. Just this May, I had move back to the states and she was left there in the Philippines. I miss her so much and she does too. The night before I left, I told her I wanted to marry her and that we'll make a great family in the states. I am 27 and she is 21.

As I said earlier, I moved back to the States few weeks ago. I recently just got hired as a registered nurse and will starting earning soon. I did not have any income since 2012. I plan on filing my petition this August (in 2 months) and get married next year on her birth month (May).

Questions

1: Will they ask for my income tax, pay stubs, proof of employment? (I don't have any savings at the moment)

2: Should I wait until next year before filing the petition?

3: Do I need to ask my family for affidavit of support?

4. For evidences of our relationship, I don't think the consul will doubt if our relationship is real since we have a lot of pictures. We also went to out of the country just this May 2016, few weeks before leaving the PH. However, most of our conversation in Facebook/Viber/imessage is in Filipino. Should I translate everything to English?

I am sorry if those are too many questions. Hopefully someone could help me. Thank you for helping those people like me who are in a long distance relationship. Being apart with the one you love is terrible but reading all these success stories gives me hope.

1. Yes, but not when you initially file, only at interview some 5-6 months later.

2. You should be ok to file this year if your income will be comfortably above the poverty level. If you don't file until August, her interview will likely be in January anyways and you could file your 2015 taxes as soon as possible and have them ready.

3. Doesn't sound like it.

4. Yeah you should be fine there. No need to translate, they will have people there that speak the language.

1. For filing the I-129F petition income information is not needed, so you are fine there. Later at USEM in Manila for the visa application Evidence of Support is required, for that they will want a tax return & W2, and in your case being a new employee a letter from your employer and pay stubs will be of value.

2. No I don't think you should wait. It is possible for you to get approved without a co-sponsor with this evidence that your income (future) does meet the poverty guidelines of the I-864P.

3. If a co-sponsor is needed then a close family member (parents or siblings) is best for getting accepted with the K-1 visa, USEM can be difficult with co-sponsors.

(with all of that said, many times USEM is not even asking for Evidence of Support with the K-1 visa as of late.)

4. For your chat logs and such it is not necessary to translate it all, only official documents are required to be in English, besides... the CO speaks and reads Tagalog... ;)
