Not really, unless it qualifies for an expedite.

I understand i am awaiting a case number from the nvc to schedule the interview correct?

In order to get the police background and the hospital records needed to provide at the interview do i need to provide the nvc case number to the hospital and police?

Is there any online way to track the issuance of the nvc case number without having to wait for the noa2?

Quite right, the local embassy also needs to have the packet in hand as well.

For the police certificate, not usually, I don't know what you're country you're from and whether or not you need a reason. Most cases you simply ask for the police certificate/Certificate of good character or whichever its called in your country. You can find out . The medical (I assume that's what you mean by hospital) you have to either wait for the embassy to contact you or receive your case (you can call them in a few weeks if you wish) schedule an interview, then you can schedule your medical. They will have a particular doctor/hospital you will need to visit.

You can call them in a few weeks if you wish and ask for your case number as well as when they'll be sending it to your local embassy.
