Also, don't let the waiting and the immigration process get to you. This is just the first part and the road ahead is long and possibly bumpy. The more we stress about this, the more we are damaging ourselves and we need to be strong in order to overcome a,, the hurdles.

Be patient and good luck, good things will come your way

Thank you, and I am trying my best to stay strong. it's just hard with people asking when he's coming and or things will not work.....

I had someone on here message me saying that our visa will be denied because he's in Africa and they don't ever approve K 1 visa once they get to the interview because African can't be trusted, and they have scams. There's no way someone in Africa could possibly marry someone that's here for a good reason... Whoever they were they deleted the message after I went off on them. Please can be so rude and heartless. I get that parts of Africa doesn't have the best reputation but Ethiopia isn't one of the countries creating scams and or running scams.

I just got some discouraging news from USCIS call center..... They stated that they're processing visas for January of this year, and that they aren't approving anyone's second NOA that were sent after January of this year. The rep states that if someone's saying they were approved with a date after January they're most likely lying because they're 5 months behind and they don't move onto the next case until they've completed all of the previous months visas.... can someone please let me know if they've gotten approved with their K1 they applied after January 31, 2016..... She is telling me that I should get my second NOA by October of this year if they're not asking for more information.... Not happy with the information at all, we were hoping to have him here before Thanksgiving. :(:crying: My heart just dropped, I am so heartbroken right now, I am praying this isn't true and that they're moving along faster than what I was told, but can anyone please let me know if they've gotten their second NOA? If so what would be the reasoning of them still being in January when I've seen people on here post that they've gotten their second NOA.

The people on the phone do not understand this process at all. Never listen to what they have to say. They can only see what's on the website and then they misinterpret it. Go look at the CSC processing times here. See I-129f. It says "5 months". That does not mean that they're taking 5 months. Or that they're 5 months "behind" (behind what? Overnight service? Those people are beyond stupid and cause more problems than they solve). Read the "Instructions for using this chart", right above the chart:

"If the field office or service center is meeting its goal for processing a form, you will find the timeframe listed in months. For example, if the office is processing Form N-400 naturalization applications in five months or less, then the chart will say "5 months." However, if the office is experiencing a processing delay, you will find the filing date of the last case that the office completed before updating the chart."

That means that CSC is processing I-129fs in 5 months or less. That's all they're able to tell you and that's all they WILL tell you. Clearly the people on the phone don't understand that much and they will tell you anything from 5 full months for NOA2, or 5 months for the whole process, or 5 month backlog....they are dumb. No way around it, they're just stupid.

So, if this chart is useless (and it is... and it gets worse when there IS a processing delay which I won't get into here... it gets actually less useful in that case though), why doesn't someone come up with a better way? They did. It's the Visajourney timeline data. They have as many people as possible put in their application dates, NOA1 and NOA2 dates to get a real picture of how much less than 5 months they're really doing (or in the case of a processing delay, a real look at the processing delay). So stick with the VJ estimates. They're not perfect, and they aren't a guarantee and yes, the processing time has been slowly getting longer over the past several months so what happened to a January applicant won't happen to a June applicant and the data is a little slow to reflect that. But it's the most accurate thing out there.

Now, what you cannot do is call USCIS once you lapse beyond the VJ timeline. Part of the reason they build that chart the way they do is to give themselves a nice long buffer to prevent as many people as possible from being able to open a service request (note-- that chart is updated on the 15th of each month, with an "as of date" from the end of the month before previous. June 15ths update was "as of" April 30 and won't update again until July 15. So that chart is always 6 to 10 weeks out of date but they still hold you to the timeframe listed).

Doesn't each Service Center process these I129F's at different speeds?

Yes, normally but right now only CSC is processing I-129fs. See further explanation below.

CSC and TSC are processing at almost identical speed at present.

Only CSC is processing I-129fs. You mail your petition to the Dallas Lockbox, and it routes to any one of the service centers that are accepting your type of petition. These days, and for over a year, only CSC is accepting I-129fs. TSC and VSC show up in Visajourney data because they're still an option from the drop-down box (because it's entirely possible that TSC or VSC will start accepting again in the future) and people get confused when filling out their timelines. You can see that right here in this tread, with the OP.

So, anyway, every petition that you see approved out of TSC in the past 14 months has *actually* been handled by CSC. That's why they're nearly identical. They were actually handled at the same service center, but people filled out their timelines wrong.

Not true. They are on April. Still some people from Jan, Feb, And March are still getting approvals. They are moving pretty fast. The uscis rep is telling you what it says on the website which hasn't been updated in months.

Nope, it was updated on June 15th or thereabouts. They just have the "as of" date of April 30 because that's how USCIS plays. It is updated on the 15th of each month, with an "as of date" from the end of the month before previous. June 15th's update was "as of" April 30 and won't update again until July 15. So that chart is always 6 to 10 weeks out of date but they still hold you to the timeframe listed to be eligible for a service request. They 100% do it on purpose. That counts as updated.

Meaning if it says "as of April 30, 2015 we were processing files from October 14, 2014" and It is July 14, 2015 and you applied on October 15, 2014 (275 days, 9 months and 2 days), you still can't open a service request. Even though at that time, the VJ average was "only" 210 days. That's a real-life example, btw.

Firstly,

Your details state that you filed at Texas and not California...yet your subject is specific to California Service Center.

Secondly,

Here are the details for both TSC and CSC:

Field Office Processing Dates for as of: April 30, 2016

Form Title Classification or Basis for Filing: Processing Cases As Of Date:

I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance(e) K-1/K-2 - Not yet married - fiance and/or dependent child 5 Months

Also, current processing times for petitions with the following NOA1 dates are being processed:

I-129F for K-1 Visa

CSC: March 29, 2016

TSC: March 28, 2016

Thirdly,

Your post reminds me of when I was at that stage of following up with USCIS for Nebraska Service Center during this same time last year and was told that they were severely backlogged and was currently handling cases from January 2014...and before! I was like "Are you serious???" The rep was just like "yes". I wasn't satisfied with that answer and called them back in 3 days' time....low and behold, I was told that the rep gave inaccurate info since someone updated the database incorrectly and put 2014 instead of 2015. I just goes to show that the system CAN be wrong at times but the reps will always remain steadfast and loyal to what their computer screen is showing them (even tho it may be wrong).

Best of luck to you and yours! :)

A lot of people get TSC and CSC confused. I-129fs are all sent to Dallas Lockbox and because Dalles is in Texas they think they're at TSC. But all I-129fs are handled through CSC and have been for over a year now. See above for the explanation of that ridiculous chart and how it's misleading even to USCIS's own employees. OP needs to (1) fix their timeline to reflect that they're at CSC and (2) take to heart that the misinformation line should never be truested.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

Am sure that officer must be smoking something, cause my NOA1 was on March 30th and I have my NOA2 right here in my hand which was approved on JUNE 15TH...So who is lying about all this, just like everyone else said, ask yourself why would anyone lie about something like this, what is it to gain?

I am sure you told her that and like the rest said, she was looking at something different or reading of a USCIS timeline that states it takes 5 months, which is true if you go to USCIS website and check.

You are in a good hand and NOA2 hopefully will be approved within the next month if not less....Seems like USCIS CSC are moving a little faster from what I have noticed....Good luck!!
