Hi Everybody,

We received our NOA2 dated 1 June. I called NVC today, and they told me they didn't have our petition yet, and it could take up to 6 weeks for them to get it. :(

They seemed to have slowed down at the NVC. We received our NOA2 on May 3. Our petition didn't scan at the NVC until June 3. Our case number was issued June 17. But good news! Once the case number issues, things seem to feel a little bit faster. Just hang in a little longer :).

First thing you will have to check is, if your status says "Case was sent to the Department of State" on USCIS website. From the time it's sent to NVC it might take up to 1 week to receive your petition. Once the NVC receive your case it might take up to 2 weeks to get your case number and IIN.

All the best!

My understanding that CSC (California) does not update cases sent to NVC, only other centers do. After receiving NOA2 CSC no longer sent anymore updates...true or not, this is what I have read somewhere on VJ.

Well, that's weird. The approval notice says:

"The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center ... The USCIS has completed all action; further inquiries should be directed to the NVC."

Then NVC is supposed to snail mail us (hopefully me here in the States and not my fiancée in Jordan) a notification that the petition has been sent to the embassy.

I get that there's processing time and it'll take another minute for it to get sent to the embassy. So I can see a couple of weeks, maybe even three. But six weeks? And the call center couldn't even look up the receipt number? I find that strange, even for a government bureaucracy.

Looks like you are correct., I was not aware it's different for other Service center. Good to know.
