That's very tight. The joint sponsor need to make at least 125% of the federal poverty guideline, which is about 35K for 5 people.

Your brother needs to sponsor himself, his wife, his kid, you and your wife. That's a total of 5 people.

Wrong, as the joint sponsor needs to count their own household plus the intending immigrant. They don't count the USC petitioner. They need enough income for 4, not 5.

It's 4. The Joint Sponsor does not count his brother, the petitioner. The JS would count himself, his wife, his kid, and the intending immigrant. That's a total of 4 people.

Hi,

Maybe he can show pay stubs for YTD 2016 if it sounds like he will be working for a higher salary than in 2015.

Personally, I think you should source another sponsor just in case....as in have a person on standby who is currently making sufficient amount over the poverty line for 4 persons and who is willing to agree in being a sponsor. A sponsor has a serious obligation so not everyone will be quick to volunteer ;)

In that way, if your brother's income is not satisfactory to the CO, then you can have your standby sponsor fill that gap....best of luck to you and your wife :)
