So I just had my interview today! Passed it and thought I'd write this up before I forgot things. Hopefully it helps with someone who needs it.

My interview date was June 22nd at 7:40AM. My fiancé drove up to be with me and we stayed in the Hyatt hotel, which was about a block away. It's expensive and personally I found it to be kind of meh for the price, but the one across the consulate was booked up! I highly recommend staying in a hotel near it for the night before your interview. We switched to a cheaper one (which is actually nicer, the Marriott Courtyard West Island) for the rest of our stay. We had breakfast at a place near the hotel, called Eggspectation, and it wa really good. The waiter there knew we were going to the consulate as soon as we asked for the time.

We lined up at 7:00pm. There was one other person in front of us (then someone cut in line, but got turned away later as she needed to fill out paperwork) so we ended up being handed a small plastic sheet with a number two on it, it also held instructions of what the person would need at the counter. In the waiting line, the guard came by and asked for my ds-160 confirmation page (the one with the barcode), my email confirmation letter (it's the email they send you confirming your interview time and payment after you've made it), my fiancés passport and mine. They let us through and we went through security. It's like airport security so jotting to worry about. No electronic keys, phones, big purses, or backpacks allowed.

We got told to go downstairs and sit in the middle area. There is no bathroom on this floor.. And no middle section, so just sit to the side. Eventually the guard comes down and it's a rush to get on the elevator. You'll go up a lot of floors and come to the next sitting area. K1 visa does sit in the non-immigrant area! (I wish they'd make up their minds) and it has a bathroom on this floor. Also water and snacks to buy from a machine.

Since we were number two it didn't take us long to get called, maybe fifteen minutes? We went up to the counter and he lady there was very nice! She asked for the ds-160, my passport and photocopy of the bio page, birth certificate and photocopy, two passport pictures, the I-134 and his taxes (we took 3 years worth, but she only seemed interested in the 2015 one), the W2s, the medical exam, the letter of intent to marry (updated, this is very important), and the confirmation email. Then she took my fingerprints on a machine. She also asked for my address, phone number, fiancés address and number.

After that we were told to sit down. About ten minutes later we were called back up. Fiancé got shooed back into the sitting area (it depends on the person you get! I had a nice short brown haired gentleman). I mentioned I was nervous and he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. He told me that he does a lot of interviews and that they rarely fail them. Then asked me to swear that I was telling the truth. He made the questions seem more like a conversation, asking how we met (a game online, which he replied he loved games), if I had ever gotten in trouble with the law, asked if its because I had never been caught. What did my fiancé do for a living. Then he asked where he lived and when I mentioned just the city, he joked about never having heard of Boston before and what state it was in (queue me panicking as I briefly forgot how to say Massachusetts!). At the very end he gave me back some of my paperwork (birth certificate) and Joked, saying how long should we keep my fiancé sweating. Then said I was approved and they'll send me my passport later.

All in all, it was actually really the easiest part (but the most nerve wracking by far, I was shaking at the interview). It helps if you are organized with your paperwork and know where things are. I had put sticky tabs on mine so I could just look at those and find what I needed. They didn't ask for a lot of stuff I was carrying around, but I freaked out and wanted everything and the kitchen sink with me.

I hope it helps everyone! And sorry about the spelling mistakes! Typing on an iPad and when tired really don't mix.

Glad it went so well, PandaSong!

I just want to add so that people don't freak out (I know how easy it is to freak out), the only reason they needed your fiancé's passport was to admit him to the consulate. If the interviewee attends alone, they don't need to have the fiancé(e) passport with them :)

Either one works for me! Maybe upload them? I'm still in Montreal with the future husband (we made a date week out of it) so I'll have to use my iPad.
