Documents translation for AOS

Hello everyone, I entered US as a K-1 fiancee and now about to do AOS. I am wondering, is that a good idea to translate my foreign birth certificate myself and just add this in the end of the translated document:

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

I've read that sometimes USCIS request for the third party because they don't like immigrant translate his own document, is that true?

Also, I have a question about taxes, in I-864 they ask to fill out fields with last 3 tax years, but my husband files taxes only for 2014 and 2015, should he write a letter of explanation why he didn't file in 2013?

I can only answer one of your questions, sorry. But I'm pretty sure they require a certified translator for any documentation. However, someone might be able to tell you differently based off of their own experience.

Yes, the instructions state that if you didn't file taxes for one of the years then you should attach a letter of explanation and put 'N/A' for the 2013 field.

A third party certified translator is not required. Anyone fluent in both languages can do the translation, including yourself. Yes, you must add that certification to the translated document.

You would be correct. All it mentions on the USCIS website is the person must be competent in that language and it must be accurate. I was just going off of what my lawyer said to me. My apologies
