since your a may filer and with no delays or rfes u may be done by October/ November not everyone has issues with this process some get super lucky ,and part of the battle is preparation

Yea I made sure everything was done right had someone who's done the whole process for her husband. She made sure everything was done the right way. There shouldn't be anything issues with getting it approved the biggest delay is with the wait time for the second NOA to be approved. Once that is approved, it could take up to two weeks for the NVC to get the paperwork, the NVC forwards the paperwork to the Embassy of the receiving country. Then once there they'll have to get the forms to complete prior to the interview, Ethiopia doesn't have a delay in interviews so my fiancé can get an interview as early as a week after getting the forms as long as he does all his requirements before the interview. So we are praying that he will have had his interview by the end of September. After we get the second NOA the time will go by quickly with everything else.

Also congratulations on your future engagement :star:

Your timeline states you were transferred from Texas to CSC. All petitions are sent to the Texas lockbox them forwarded to the appropriate service center. In this case all K1s are currently being processed at CSC. You should correct ur timeline info.

I just recently saw a post where an approved petition still hasn't reached NVC yet and it's been a month. The timelines, processing times, and adjudication date are only guidelines...not guarantees.

Using the guides and K1 flowchart is very helpful.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

I am trying to figure out if my fiancé will be here by November 5th of this year. Our paperwork has been pending for 44 days since they got our paperwork on 5.6.2016. We are praying that we get the second NOA by the end of July without any issues. If the visa is approved could we possibly get him her before our deadline?

Selam, dehna nesh? :goofy: It's exciting to see another Ethio poster :) My fiance and I are currently on NOA2. From NOA1 to NOA2, it took about 90 days without RFE. Some March filers are also around 90-100 days. Now we are still waiting for case number at NVC and it's been 17 days. The estimate for March folks is 3 weeks and some change until you get a case number. The VJ wait for Ethio embassy says 1-3 months (can't give you personal info on that as we are processing out of Abu Dhabi). So, total approximately around 6-8 months. When I spoke to an attorney before I started the process, she told me the K1 currently take around 9-10 months. I would keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best in November, but like previous posters said don't make any definite plans that would be hard to adjust. I pray you have no RFE and your journey will be smooth and speedy. I know the waiting is sooo hard! Tigist.....tigist....tigist....as I tell myself :)

and Many are denied at interview and put into AP and application is allowed to die

they end up marrying and going CR 1 route

never count your chickens before the eggs hatch

never make plans until that visa is in hand

you are in Arica / chances of this being approved are slim / I know as it took us 6 years and 3 applicaitons including an appeal

i wish you the best

there's no reason for it to be denied, yes he's in Africa but the part he's in isn't filled with scams. his country isn't like Kenya or Nigeria. Ethiopia doesn't have issues with getting people their visas.

I have that mine is being processed at the Cali center, they received it on 5.4.2016 but the last notation on our case was 5.6.2016. I don't see what's wrong with what I put my timeframe is correct it's for 5.6.2016 not from the time I mailed the forms

I just had someone tell me that we will not get approved because we are in Africa..... They have no idea of what they're talking about.... but I know little Amharic(working on learning it), I am in the process of getting baptized into the religion. I am praying that we don't get a RFE because I made sure everything was done correctly. I also had my Ethiopian sister go over it all and she said it was good (she did it all for her husband). So I am pretty sure we will not have an issue with that. I am so glad to have someone that's Ethiopian (I am 100% American) that have the same timeframe as I do (well I am a month off from yours, so close)... I am telling myself to relax it's been 45 days and counting :crying::clock: lol, God bless you and your future husband (L):goofy:

The only reason the visa would be denied is if we lie on the application, don't give supporting documentation of our relationship..... Everyone that has made a comment about the Ethiopian embassy has said all good things in there interview they aren't out to deny anyone, one person was denied well told to come back because he (American) made the error after it was fixed they got her visa. Being in Africa doesn't mean it will not happen I've also seen people get approved and the interview they're approved from all parts of Africa..... Being in Africa doesn't mean a person had less of a chance than someone else........ You don't need to be negative about the country, no matter where your fiancé is there's a chance it could be denied.

The problem is that you weren't transferred. You were always at CSC. The lockbox in Texas and TSC aren't the same. It should say CSC for your service center and transferred should be blank.

You seem very confident that nothing can go wrong. Unfortunately, lots of things can go wrong that are completely out of your control. CSC could suddenly halt processing for some unknown reason, they could fail to send your petition to NVC for a month. There could be someone shady with the same or similar name to your or your fiance that causes background checks to take longer than normal. Not everything has to do with what you put in your packet. Sometimes USCIS loses stuff and sends RFEs.

When I was going through, TSC was slow and got way slower right after I sent the petition. Nothing I can do about that. Right when my petition was sent to the embassy, DHS had some computer issue and things came to a halt for a few days/maybe a week. Nothing I can do about that.

Hopefully it does all go smoothly for you, but just be aware of things that can pop up unexpectedly that you can't control.

I understand that all and I will update my stuff, nevertheless we are praying that there's no delay at all. I know I can't control what happens but I am also not going into this thinking negatively about this whole process.

Don't worry. I know PLENTY of people that have been approved with K1 and CR-1 as well from Ethio. And we have folks from Morocco and Ghana in our March forum that have gotten approvals so idk where this African doesn't get approvals myth comes from.... As long as you submitted the necessary documents, followed instructions and you have enough evidence to support your relationship, you will be fine. I will keep you posted on how our process goes and ask if you need pointers :) It's the hardest when it's midway through and gets easier once you have the NOA2 because you feel like you have more control. I will continue to pray for no RFE and don't get discouraged if it does come because sometimes it's for simple things and the approval quickly follows after. We have a lot of RFEs in March but it lets you know that at least someone is working on your file and it isn't sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust. Stay strong and use this time to learn more about each other and prepare for the interview. Also, stay connected to your Ethiopian community and church so it grounds the both of you when he's here....if you need someone to bounce Amharic on, I'm here :dancing: Wishing you and your fiance all the best :goofy:

That mistake is already made. Just make sure your fiance has his right date in the birth certificate and passport for the interview. And he can explain that to CO if that comes up...

Good luck!

We I was looking at reasons for why someone should get a REF and I think I might get that, because I didn't send in all copies of my passport I only sent in the pages I used and the photo page. I am praying I don't get one but this makes me get prepared for it just in case I do get one....... We also have to fix his birthday because his birth certificate says on date but his ID and passport says another date I used the date that's on the passport (it's wrong), how will we fix that? I sent him a message to fix it before August so if we don't get a REF we can have it fixed before he goes to his interview.
