I've had snail before, cooked though.

Tried durian when I was in Indonesia, that stuff smells and doesn't taste that much better.

My dad is from Sweden and once when I was younger he brought back a can of fermented herring. I don't remember what it tasted like, but it had one heck of an odor.

The trick to eating durian is to hold your nose and then the taste is okay!

I have to admit i am not very adventurous trying odd foods. Then again i wont eat liver or even venison.

Liver and venison. Yummmmmy.

I like venison, as long as it doesn't smell too gamey, but I just can't take liver. I think it's the texture.

Huge skewers of meat are brought around and they carve off whatever you want. Ostrich, buffalo, zebra, you name it.

I too am not the most adventurous when it comes to food but based on some discussions I've had with my husband and other USC friends, my definition of gross is vastly different from theirs. For example, we Filipinos like our fish with the head on but I know of several USCs who are squeamish at having their food stare back at them .. LOL.

I think the most unusual I have tried is rattlesnake meat (grilled). Of course that does not take into consideration the regular Filipino food that we have like chocolate meat, oysters blanched in boiling water, snail soup, etc.

The meats ain't that exotic but this is how some of the Brazilian restaurants around here work. It's quite nice. Just gotta bring a good appetite to make it worth your while.

Sounds great. I'm going to have to go there when I get back to Kenya. Honestly, I didn't know until recently about the restaurant part of the place. It should be obvious given the name, but whenever I heard about the place on the radio, it was always advertisements for their concerts and nightlife. Ja Rule played there when I was there.

live ants

live shrimp

horse

balut

raw cow liver

deep fried grubs (dug em myself)

rotten (fermented) shark (Iceland)

many cooked bugs in Thailand (roaches, grasshopers, crickets etc...)

octopus, squid

I'm sure there is more.

There is nothing I won't try once. I always eat local.

finally somthing we can agree on! but the fermented shark in Iceland was awful! maybe worse than sea urchin!

See.... building bridges through disgusting foods. :)
