Hi everyone!

My interview is June 29th (next Wednesday at 7:40 AM in Montreal! I believe I have everything put together, but of course I wanted to post here so the experts could weigh in :) Can you please take a look at the documents that I have and let me know if there is anything that I am missing?

  • Passport + 1 copy of biographical information/address page from passport
  • Birth Certificate - long form and short form, 2 copies of each
  • Police Certificate - Name check only (is this sufficient?) - original + 2 copies
  • 2 copies of my fiancee’s lease (proof of domicile)
  • 2 copies of affidavit of support
  • 2 copies of letter from fiancee’s employer
  • 6 weeks of fiancee’s pay stubs
  • 4 years of fiancee’s tax transcripts
  • letter of intent from both of us - 2 copies each
  • Copies of DS-160 Confirmation with barcode
  • evidence: copies of flight itinterary + boarding passes from our xmas visit, copy of cards and letters, pictures.
  • Colour pictures
  • Letter I received after submitting my DS-160 stating that I am ready to schedule an interview, etc. with instructions on how to schedule the interview, pay the fee, and information about the medical exam, and the check list of items required for the interview. At the bottom of this e-mail, it lists my case #, my name, preference category, traveling applicants and then it says Appointment letter: (Packet 4) at the very end.
  • Letter I received after scheduling the interview from donotreply@usvisa-info.com with “Yatri: U.S. DoS K Visa Application Confirmation (action required) that has my interview date, time, and confirmation that I paid the fee. This letter also has my courier selection information.

Is this sufficient, am I missing anything? Should I have more evidence … Facebook wall posts, etc.? I am really confused about the two letters that I received. Only one of them has the interview confirmation, but it doesn't seem like an "official" letter, I guess?

I am so scared that I’m going to forget something or that I missed a step :(

Also, if anyone else has their interview that day, don't hesitate to say hi! Maybe we can meet up for coffee/drinks afterward to celebrate if all goes well (fingers crossed!)

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

So the packet 4 letter is the first one I was referring to that tells me I am ready to schedule an interview?

And the e-mail with the courier selection and interview date/time/confirmation of fee payment is sufficient?

Yes you need both to get into the interview.

For immigrant visas, like mine, P4 comes with an interview date and you just register to get the package back. But for you the P4 tells you to schedule the interview, and the other sheet has interview date and time, along with courier information.

Omg so this is where I've been getting confused for AGES! I kept reading about people getting an interview date and time in their Packet 4 and when I didn't get that I FREAKED out! But I guess that explains it :)

erp best of luck next wed. LOL I thought you said this wednesday... then i read the thread title. ;)

I wish it was tomorrow, another week of panic and paranoia doesn't sound great right about now! Plus I am taking the bus to Montreal from the Maritimes so that's going to be a really fun time :dancing::crying:

Oh the interview is easy. Relax.

Hold the phone! I need to bring the packet 4 email with me to get in? It didn't state that we needed it anywhere or to print it off. :( My interview is tomorrow and that's the only paper I'm missing!

Edit* I have the confirmation email but not the packet 4 itself. Freaking out now!

The packet 4 would have been the letter you got saying "you are now ready to schedule your interview" etc.

did you not get that by e-mail or in the mail? I got mine by e-mail the day after I sent packet 3

Yes, packet 4 was an email. I ran out of ink before printing it off,,, but all the reviews (and the emails themselves) don't suggest you need packet 4 to be prined it off. I could be wrong, which is why I'm now panicking, but I was told it was just the actual confirmation pages after booking and paying. (So two- the one email you get after scheduling and the one on the page where you book. Both flat out say you need them and to print it off. )

OP, I'm a bit of a belt and suspenders person, and from your 2 copies of everything, I am guessing you are, too. NLR has indicated that you don't need copies of lots of documents, and it's true you don't need to submit copies, but for my peace of mind I had originals and a copy of everything when I went for my interview. So when the guy is looking at a paper, you can be looking at the same thing if he asks any questions about it.

Also, I like having a complete set of every blessed paper we submitted from start to finish, just in case, because that's one way to keep me from fretting that they could lose something. I'm a bit of a worrier!

The folder I took with me was quite heavy, but for me it was worth it. Killed a few trees, though.

Good luck with your interview!

How did your interview go? If you don't mind me asking :) I was thinking about you this morning, waiting for updates!

I am so confused again AGH. By confirmation e-mail, do you mean the one with the "U.S. DoS K Visa Application Confirmation (action required)" subject line? That's the only confirmation e-mail I received after scheduling my interview :( I didn't print off the page where I booked it. I am also so confused about what they mean by "You must print this instruction page and bring it with you to your consular interview, along with the letter you received from the Consular Section." What letter?! The only one letter I received was my packet 4 telling me to schedule an interview, and then the confirmation e-mail where it says that!

AGH!!!! Such a stupid, stressful process :( I'll be so glad when it's finished.

AGH!!!! Such a stupid, stressful process :( I'll be so glad when it's finished.

My interview went great! I'll write up a full review soon, but it really is how they say. Definitely one of the easiest parts as long as you're organized.

You want to make sure you have your ds-160 printed off. The one with the barcode after you finish it. There was a lady who didn't have that, but it's one of the first things they ask for when you're in line. The e-mail they want you to have is the "Yatri: U.S. DOS visa confirmation of successful payment." I also had the one page printed off, after you schedule your interview at the website (it says to print it off, but has the same stuff as the email. You can go back and print off that page too! I did it). Also print off the receipt if you paid for the Canada post bit already.

Here's what they specifically asked me for while waiting in line:

- The ds-160 barcode confirmation

- The email that they ask for, so basically the one that confirms your interview date and payment.

- They asked for my partners passport and mine.

What they asked for at the paperwork part:

- The ds-160 barcode page.

- passport pictures

- my passport and photocopy of the bio page

- the I-134 support form.

- taxes (we had three years, they didn't ask for three but did take them)

- the w2 from my fiancé

- my address and phone number

- his address and phone number (have it written down if you don't know it).

- police check

- letter of intent from my fiancé (just his)

- medical file

- birth certificate and photocopy of it.

- name change certificate and photocopy (I had my first name changed, so it was needed)

They'll fingerprint you and then make you sit down until your interview time (really fast, so go bathroom before the paperwork if you can. Also listen carefully as their speakers suck. And sit in the non immigrant area!). The interview is really easy too. You swear an oath, they ask a couple questions like if you've been married before, what does your fiancé do, how did you meet. The person I had really tried to put me at ease (I was shaking, fiancé couldn't stay with me at that point). They'll fingerprint your right hand, then if you have everything they'll sign the paper and you're done!
