But even so - how can you "instil panic" by making a comment about the pilots sobriety based on a bumpy landing?

some might take it seriously - that's all that's needed, isn't it? and yet such chopf***s saying such ####### after landing indicates that common sense isn't as common as it used to be.

I don't condone his comment, but surely some might have the common sense to realize that a guy making an aside comment about the condition of pilot after the plane has landed is not really in a position to seriously assess the guys ability to fly the plane.

Again this is a far cry from shouting "bomb" or joking that you have a gun in your luggage at the security screening.

I mean come on. Somewhere in the myriad of teaching air marshals how to shoot guns AWAY from the hull of the plane they could have found time to help these poor human beings distinguish between an obvious joke and an actual panic inducing threat. After all, how many terrorists can you think of who stand in the aisle and say "A horse walks into a bar..the barman says "why the long face?"? From a terrorist's point og view, the whole thing is instead rather serious and I doubt they'd pass the time trying to de-stress...

On the other hand, everybody knows the pilot is strictly off limits. How the heck would anyone know if the pilot WAS drunk? They wouldn't!

Oy vay, we live in a world where it's practically illegal to say anything funny in an airport. "F" that, I say! I am a Brit who likes Monty Python, Eddie Izzard (may he live long and prosper) and lots of other slightly Un-PC comedy and I will be the first to stand up and say "this sucks - I don't want to live in a society where everyone's controlled like a robot and bloody oversensitive!". Come on folks, this is just dumb - walking on eggshells all the time for the sake of huge corporations basically trying to cover their a$$es - serves them right. Hope it cost MORE than $5000.

No sympathy from Jay for the corporation who tested the crew (who were just "collateral damage" I'm sure, and probably have this blight in their personnell records until they leave, now.)
